Shu Yu remembered that the Tan Family's cloth shop was indeed quite large.
Her mother and elder sister had mentioned before that among the fabrics they currently ordered, there was a batch from the Tan Family. Additionally, whenever they visited the capital to see the latest fashion, they would mostly go to the Tan Family's ready-to-wear shop.
The Tan Family's influence in Dong'an Prefecture was indeed significant, especially with a relative holding an official position in the capital. They were undoubtedly wealthy and influential.
However, even if doctor Zhao went to the Tan Family to treat their young master, he would either succeed or fail. At most, he would be asked to leave, but how could it be considered causing a big trouble?
Shu Yu asked the clerk, "What would happen if the doctor fails to treat the young master of the Pang Family?"
"I don't know. I only know that most of the doctors who had previously treated the young master of the Tan Family did not have a good life afterward. People like this old man who boasts so much and offends the Tan Family might have an even worse fate."
The clerk shrugged and, having enjoyed himself enough, went back to his work as someone called for him in the medical clinic.
Shu Yu rubbed her forehead and left that medical clinic.
"Miss, are we going to the Tan Family?" Ying Xi asked.
"Yes."
The carriage resumed its journey. The Tan Family was not hard to find; a simple inquiry revealed that it was located in the eastern part of the city.
By the time Shu Yu arrived at the Tan Family's doorstep, it was already late.
She knocked on the door, stated her name, and the gatekeeper, upon hearing she was Lu Xiangjun, was taken aback for a moment before quickly reporting to the master.
However, the Tan Family's master was utterly bewildered as he didn't recognize Lu Xiangjun at all.
He asked the other female members of the Tan Family present, and none of them knew her either.
Lu Xiangjun's sudden visit was indeed strange.
However, the Tan Family's master knew of Shu Yu; she was a person with connections in the capital.
Therefore, he didn't dare to be negligent and immediately had his servants bring her in.
After entering, Shu Yu followed the servants all the way to the main hall of the front yard, where only the Tan Family's master was present.
However, the Tan Family's master was quite different from what she had imagined. He was thin and seemed somewhat haggard. Something seemed to have happened just now since there was a very light footprint and some scratches on his clothes.
Shu Yu's eyelids twitched, suspecting that the Tan Family's master's current appearance might be related to doctor Zhao.
Could a conflict have arisen between them already?
Thinking of this, Shu Yu decided not to beat around the bush and straightforwardly said, "I apologize for the sudden visit, I hope I haven't disturbed you, Master Tan."
"Village Lord is too polite, please have a seat. I..." Master Tan tried to be courteous, but Shu Yu interrupted him.
"Master Tan," Shu Yu didn't wait for him to finish his polite words and went straight to the point, "I'm sorry, I heard that my grandfather and my younger sister were taken back to your family to treat the young master. I wonder where they are now?"
Master Tan was stunned, "Your grandfather and younger sister?"
Shu Yu nodded, "Yes, my grandfather's surname is Zhao, and my younger sister is called Ah Ning."
Master Tan's face changed in an instant, showing a hint of anger and dissatisfaction.
Originally, he was being quite polite to Shu Yu, but now his face darkened.
Shu Yu thought: Could it be that she really came too late? Wasn't doctor Zhao here to treat the young master of the Tan Family? How could it provoke Master Tan to be so annoyed? Did he directly say that young master Tan illness was incurable and that he was going to die?
"Master Tan, did they say anything improper? It seems like you are not very happy, and my grandfather has a straightforward temperament. Perhaps there was some misunderstanding. I wonder if I could see them first?"
