Shu Yu and Xiao Shi were talking in low voices when they heard a soft voice outside the door.
Shu Yu sat up straight. "It should be Sister Qiu coming."
Xiao Shi immediately grew nervous. "Shu Yu, if Sister Qiu doesn't agree, then forget it. There's no need to..."
Before she could finish her sentence, the person outside had already entered.
Xiao Shi looked up and saw a stern-looking senior nun entering the room. This nun seemed stricter and harder to talk to compared to the one from before.
But then, to her surprise, Qiu Dao Gu's voice sounded slightly resigned. "I already know what happened. Since she is your friend, let her stay."
"Sister Qiu, you're too kind!" Shu Yu happily stood up and walked over to her, with an eager look in her eyes.
Xiao Shi was dumbfounded. The nun, who seemed difficult to talk to, agreed so easily?
Qiu Dao Gu sighed. "Alright, I have other matters to attend to. You two settle your things and follow Sister Zheng to the room in the innermost part of the backyard. However, male companions cannot stay in the backyard. I heard this young lady has two bodyguards?"
"Yes." Xiao Shi quickly stood up and nodded.
Those two bodyguards were left behind by her husband to protect her, and they were quite skilled.
In fact, it wasn't just the two bodyguards; even the two maidservants beside her were trained in martial arts. One took care of her daily life, and the other also knew martial arts.
Her husband, Xiang Weinan, had made meticulous arrangements. In fact, he had left two other people in the shadows, but she didn't know where they were.
Qiu Dao Gu said, "There is another house on the back mountain, not far from where you are staying. If you think it's suitable, your companions can stay there."
"That's fine." Xiao Shi immediately nodded.
Qiu Dao Gu finished her instructions and then went back to the front hall.
Shu Yu and Xiao Shi followed Sister Zheng to the accommodation. The rooms in the backyard were already prepared and the environment was quite pleasant and serene. There were not many people passing by, and Xiao Shi liked it. She had come to Dongqing Temple to recuperate, so living here was just right.
The furnishings inside the room were very simple, only a bed, a wardrobe, and a table. It was a world of difference from the room she used to live in, but Xiao Shi still felt it was lovely after everything was arranged properly.
Shu Yu walked outside for a while and smiled, "This place is nice. There's a vegetable plot in the front, and many flower beds nearby. When you have time, you can grow vegetables and flowers to pass the time. If you get bored, you can also go to the back mountain. Occasionally, there will be pilgrims going there, so just wear a veil, and it won't look strange."
Xiao Shi's eyes brightened. Since leaving the capital, she had already prepared herself for being confined to a small courtyard without even stepping out of the threshold.
Now, being able to recuperate in such a peaceful and beautiful place and occasionally go out for a walk was already a rare opportunity.
"Shu Yu, thank you." Xiao Shi knew that Shu Yu had thoughtfully arranged for her to stay here.
She felt very grateful and regretted the misunderstanding from before, as well as trying to introduce Xiao Shi to others for marriage.
Shu Yu waved her hand. "No need to be too polite. Rest first. I'll go into the city to find Senior Zhao for you."
