Yesterday, Shu Yu didn't specify where they would be staying in the Dong'an city, and Xiao Shi assumed they would find a quiet little courtyard inside the city for temporary accommodation.
Although Xiao Shi had spent some time in Jiangyuan County, she was unfamiliar with Dong'an Prefecture, and she was feeling somewhat uneasy.
However, after entering the city with Shu Yu, instead of looking for a place to stay, Shu Yu led her to buy various daily necessities.
"The place I'm taking you for shopping is not very convenient, so take a look around now. If you want to buy something else later, it's better to send a servant to do it."
Xiao Shi was a little stunned but followed Shu Yu's instructions and purchased everything they needed.
She actually had little experience in shopping, so after mentioning a few things she wanted, she didn't know what else to buy. Therefore, most of the items were prepared by Shu Yu, and Xiao Shi only needed to pay for them.
After they finished shopping, Shu Yu led Xiao Shi out of the city again.
Xiao Shi was puzzled, "Aren't we going to stay in the city?"
"No, we won't be staying in the city." Shortly after leaving the city, the carriage stopped, and Shu Yu pointed to a nearby hilltop and said, "We'll be staying there."
Xiao Shi followed her finger and looked up at the hilltop. "That's... Dongqing Temple?"
"Dongqing Temple," Shu Yu confirmed.
Xiao Shi's eyes widened, "We'll be staying at Dongqing Temple?"
Dongqing Temple was well-known in the capital, and almost everyone with some influence knew about it. It was a place with a thriving incense and a mysterious Dongqing Temple Master.
When Xiao Shi came to Jiangyuan County last year, she had thought about visiting Dongqing Temple.
However, Xiang Wainan didn't allow her to go, citing the long and unsafe journey and the absence of the Dongqing Temple Master from the temple at that time.
At that time, Xiao Shi didn't want to go against Xiang Wainan's wishes. After all, she had just arrived there and didn't want to trouble him. Since he said she couldn't go, she didn't go.
Thus, this was the first time Xiao Shi saw Dongqing Temple.
Staying in a temple was undoubtedly an excellent choice.
Moreover, Dongqing Temple was occupied by Daoist nuns, and with the imposing Dongqing Temple Master watching over them, there would be no need to worry about safety and privacy.
However, the only concern was... whether they would accept her to stay for an extended period. She wouldn't be staying for just a little over ten days.
It was said that Dongqing Temple could accommodate short-term visitors, allowing them to stay for a day or two. But no one had ever been allowed to stay there for an extended period.
Thinking of this, Xiao Shi became even more anxious.
Dongqing Temple was not a place she could afford to offend.
As she hesitated whether to discuss with Shu Yu about finding another place to stay, they had already arrived at the gate of Dongqing Temple.
Xiao Shi still had her veil on, but Shu Yu confidently walked in.
While she easily entered, Xiao Shi's two guards were stopped at the entrance.
Shu Yu said to Xiao Shi, "This is a temple. It's fine in the main hall, but men are not allowed in the backyard. Let them wait outside."
Xiao Shi nodded to the guards as instructed.
After entering the courtyard, Shu Yu saw Daoist Sister Zheng watering the plants.
Her expression twitched slightly, "...Why is Daoist Sister Zheng always watering plants whenever I come here?"
"Miss?" Daoist Sister Zheng put down the watering can and approached them, her inquisitive gaze shifting between Shu Yu and Xiao Shi.
