Sunflower oil?
Shu Yu looked at him expectantly, and Meng Yunzheng smiled, "After the sunflower oil was delivered to the palace, the Emperor had it tested and found that it was not only better and more refreshing than regular oil, but also healthier and more effective."
The palace had imperial physicians and specialized food experts. Naturally, they carefully examined the sunflower oil, which claimed to be healthy and nutritious. Unexpectedly, the test results brought pleasant surprises.
The Emperor was naturally delighted. As soon as he ascended the throne, a new type of healthy edible oil appeared, and he immediately ordered it to be procured for daily use in the palace.
"So, in the near future, people from the palace will come to discuss the supply of sunflower oil with you."
Shu Yu was taken aback, "..."
This was a great opportunity beyond her imagination, but it was also a challenging one.
Supplying ingredients to the palace was no small matter. If anything went wrong, it couldn't be resolved with just a few words.
However, no business was without risks. One had to seek wealth amidst danger. This opportunity was rare, and if she gave it up, she could only run her small workshop in Jiangyuan County without any other prospects.
Moreover, with the palace's promotion, if sunflowers were cultivated and sunflower oil produced elsewhere, they wouldn't be able to compete with her. Her brand would be established through this opportunity.
Those with power and influence would naturally trust the Lu family.
There were pros and cons, and Shu Yu was more inclined to seize this opportunity.
However, she didn't understand the procurement process in the palace, and the imperial court and the harem were places with numerous disputes and intrigues. Who could guarantee that no one would use the sunflower oil to harm others? So she voiced her concerns.
Meng Yunzheng chuckled and reassured her, "Don't worry. The procurement of ingredients for the palace undergoes rigorous screening and testing. Even when the food is served, there are people who taste it. Ordinary people won't be able to tamper with it."
Many merchants supplied ingredients to the palace, ranging from basic necessities like firewood, rice, oil, and salt, to clothing and jewelry. They were all inspected repeatedly. Sunflower oil was used in small amounts for cooking and not frequently, so there was indeed no need to worry excessively.
Meng Yunzheng offered her an idea, "If you're still worried, have Zhao Xi check the goods every time they are delivered, and pay him extra wages to ensure there are no problems."
Shu Yu thought the suggestion was good. Thinking about the fact that both her products gained such huge popularity just after their release, she became even happier. "When will the people from the palace come for the procurement?"
"They'll probably come along with my promotion appointment letter." Xiang Weinan, who had been calm on the side, said casually.
"Promotion? Are you going back to the capital?" Shu Yu asked.
Xiang Weinan nodded, "Yes, thanks to you. The new sunflower seeds and sunflower oil were presented by Jiangyuan County. As the County Magistrate of Jiangyuan, my contribution is undeniable. The Emperor took this opportunity to summon me back to the capital."
Of course, Xiang Weinan had also made significant contributions during the investigation of the Dong'an Prefecture and the capture of the County Magistrate of Jiangyuan.
Shu Yu's two products were merely a "reminder" to the Emperor that there was such a person in Jiangyuan County.
With the new Emperor's ascension, it was the time to recruit talented individuals. Originally, they needed an excuse to bring Xiang Weinan back to the capital, and Shu Yu gave them that reason.
Moreover, the Third Prince was secretly making moves, and Xiang Weinan had a marital relationship with the Xiao family. The Emperor needed him to help deal with the Xiao family.
