Lu Sixing didn't have much to do and wanted to help with household expenses. When she saw her third brother buying a house, she was also tempted.
But in their family, Yuan Shanchuan was the only one earning money, and his income was limited. They also wanted to send Quan Quan to study when he grew older.
They needed additional income at home, so Lu Sixing wanted to earn some extra money.
After discussing with Yuan Shanchuan, they decided to leave Quan Quan under the care of Xiao Zhen. Xiao Zhen was almost eight years old, and at this age, she could take care of her younger brother without any problems. Moreover, with Xiao Songle around to play with them, Lu Sixing wasn't worried.
She first went to consult Lu Sanzhu, and after Lu Sanzhu's approval, Liang Shi also got wind of the idea.
Liang Shi thought it was a good idea. The doll clothes could be sewn at night, and during the day, they could sell the sunflower seeds. They would sell as much as they could.
So the two of them planned it out and went to find Shu Yu.
Shu Yu naturally had no objections. Having someone help open up new sales channels made her very happy.
She offered the two of them a reasonable wholesale price, as it was their first time doing this, and Shu Yu wanted to give them some convenience. If they couldn't sell the sunflower seeds, as long as the seeds were not damp or contaminated, they could take them back.
With no worries at hand, their motivation to sell the sunflower seeds was even greater. They were full of energy and went to Peach Blossom Forest with their baskets.
Lu Sixing wasn't very talkative, but her gentle and patient nature made her a likable person to interact with. Luckily, she encountered a girl from Yuan Shanchuan's colleague's family in Peach Blossom Forest not long after arriving. The girl recognized her as Shu Yu's aunt and greeted her, which led to her selling all the sunflower seeds in her hands in no time.
Within half a day, the sunflower seeds in her basket were completely sold out.
Although she didn't make much on the first day, when she calculated at home, she had earned eight silver coins.
Liang Shi earned more than her—she was confident and knew that this was her husband's territory. How could she not be able to sell some sunflower seeds? Liang Shi was eloquent and even deliberately found a clerk under Lu Sanzhu's command in Peach Blossom Forest. She took him to talk about gossip near the ladies.
Despite the high and elegant demeanors of these rich ladies, they couldn't resist gossip. It didn't take long before they all gathered around Liang Shi.
Liang Shi's target audience was precisely accurate—these ladies were the ones in charge of the family finances, and they made decisions on what to buy. Moreover, to save face, they wouldn't buy small quantities.
As a result, on the first day, Liang Shi earned one liang and three qian of silver.
It had only been a day, and both of them had made a substantial amount of money. They saw hope and were even more enthusiastic the next day.
By the time Li Shi found out about this, there were only three or four days left until the New Year.
She wanted to get involved, but Shu Yu's stock was already limited.
Lu Sixing and Liang Shi earned five liang and seven liang, respectively. They were extremely happy.
With their sales skyrocketing, business at Shu Yu's shop also gradually improved.
Taking advantage of this, she found another piece of land and bought around fifty mu.
The main issue was that the contiguous land was too scarce. These fifty mu of land were a bit far from the village, but there was no other option. They would harvest and transport it back later.
Shu Yu was busy and working hard until the 28th day of the twelfth lunar month. After giving everyone their New Year gifts, she left someone to watch the shop and let everyone have a break.

I wonder what the author intends to do with Li Shi. It's obvious she's not a good honest character except to her family (to a selfish extent), but seems like the author is drawing it out.
