Upon seeing her, Grandma Lu exclaimed that she had become thinner, "How come you've become so thin in just two days? You should only oversee the workshop's affairs, leave the hard labor to others. Look at you, you've lost a lot of weight."
Shu Yu was in a good mood, "Grandmother, I just came back, right? The workshop has just started operations, so I need to take care of some things. Now that everything is on track, I plan to rest at home for a few days. You have to fatten me up."
"Alright, tonight, I'll personally cook your favorite dishes. I'll go buy the ingredients right away."
After saying that, Grandma Lu called for Hua Xian and hurried off to the market to buy groceries.
However, when she returned, Shu Yu was nowhere to be found.
She asked the servants at home, and they said she had packed some sunflower seeds and sunflower oil and went out, but she would be back before dinner.
The old lady was puzzled. She thought Shu Yu took those sunflower seeds to prepare for the opening of her store. Was that not the case?
In fact, Shu Yu didn't take those sunflower seeds to sell; she took them to give as gifts.
She went directly to the post station, planning to use official channels to send them to the capital for Qi Chan, Yao Tianqin, and Minister Jing.
As the New Year was approaching, people would be visiting their relatives and friends, and when they see these rare and delicious treats, they would surely inquire about them.
With some endorsements from influential people, her products were sure to sell well.
Recently, Shu Yu had been looking for a suitable place nearby to sell her products and planned to increase her production.
"Miss, it seems that Young Master Meng is ahead."
Ying Xi, who was handling the carriage, suddenly spoke, and Shu Yu turned her head to see that indeed, Meng Yunzheng was coming out of a nearby escort agency.
This escort agency was where Meng Pei, the person Shu Yu had arranged to work, was employed. He had finally found a suitable job.
Meng Pei had been working in the agency for a couple of months, but he hadn't traveled far yet. He had only been running escorts in nearby areas and would return quickly.
"Ah Yu?" Meng Yunzheng also saw her and quickly approached, "Where are you going?"
Shu Yu got off the carriage and explained her intentions.
Finally, she lowered her voice and asked him, "Do you think I should prepare some for the new emperor too?"
She didn't have any thoughts about the previous emperor, but the new emperor had a close relationship with Meng Yunzheng. Although she had never met him personally, the former Fifth Prince had helped her a lot when she was exiled. They had communicated through letters.
Now that she had something novel and delicious, it seemed inappropriate not to offer some as a gift.
Meng Yunzheng smiled, "Indeed, you should prepare some for him. As for planting the sunflowers, Xiang Weinan has already informed the new emperor. Although the emperor didn't say much, he mentioned it in his reply. It might have been a casual mention, but we can't take it lightly."
In fact, giving some to the new emperor would be beneficial for Shu Yu.
Receiving a compliment from the new emperor would ensure that her sunflowers wouldn't have any trouble in the future.
"However, you don't need to deliver them directly. Xiang Weinan is the magistrate of Jiangyuan County. It's best for him to take care of this matter. I'll ask him to write a letter, and once the sunflower seeds and oil arrive in the capital, they will be directly delivered to the Xiang Mansion for him to present to the emperor."
"Alright." Shu Yu nodded, "So, do I still need to send them through the post station or should I have Xiang Weinan send someone to the capital?"
The latter option would be better as it would save her trouble.
However, Meng Yunzheng shook his head, "No need. I'll have my father deliver them."
"Your father? Is he going to the capital? But it's almost the New Year."
Meng Yunzheng helplessly explained, "The escort agency has an urgent delivery that needs to reach the capital before the New Year."
