Shu Yu didn't expect that Hou Shi would leave in this manner with Master Wan.
"Eh, that's not right," Grandma Lu suddenly frowned, "If that's the case, then Sixth miss should have also gone to the capital with Hou Shi, right? She is a legitimate member of the Shu family, and she can't be bought. Even if Second Master Shu cuts off ties with her, it wouldn't matter, right? How did she leave?"
Bringing up this topic, Shu Yu's expression became slightly complicated. She sighed and said, "She got married."
"What?"
Shu Yu explained, "She married a man who is neither a convict nor a low-status person. This way, Sixth Sister naturally got rid of her identity as a convicted criminal."
"But she's only twelve years old, right?" Old Madam Lu furrowed her brows.
"In this world, there are indeed girls who get married at twelve," Shu Yu helplessly replied.
Grandma Lu opened her mouth, thinking of a few examples.
Normally, there were indeed quite a few girls who were engaged at the age of twelve.
Of course, there were those who actually got married, but they were indeed a minority.
A twelve-year-old girl hasn't even fully grown yet; how could she get married?
Shu Yu knew what Grandma Lu was thinking about. She patted her hand and said, "Don't worry, it's just a temporary measure. Sixth Sister married one of Lord Wan's bodyguards, who is five or six years older than her. They are only nominal husband and wife. They won't publicly announce it, just in case people inquire about it."
Grandma Lu understood that this was a way to take Sixth Sister away from the place of exile.
"But what if she actually reaches the age to marry? Can she not get a divorce from that bodyguard? Even if she divorces, she would have been married once, and it won't be easy for her to find a good match again," Grandma Lu was concerned about Sixth miss.
After all, they had some relationship, and she wanted the young girl to have a good life.
Shu Yu fell silent for a moment and said, "I think both Hou Shi and Sixth Sister have thought through this decision carefully. After experiencing so much, Hou Shi knows what kind of choice is best. Perhaps for them, getting rid of their low status is an opportunity that can't be sought."
With Master Wan's help, it was easy for Sixth Sister's situation to be resolved like this.
Leaving the Linzhang Prefecture, regaining freedom, they can work hard to achieve whatever they want.
If they remained trapped there, they would be unable to achieve anything.
Grandma Lu agreed, "Hou Shi is clever and loves Sixth Sister very much. Whatever decision she makes is for the best."
Thinking of this, she became happier, "Anyway, this is a good thing."
"Yes, that's why I plan to pick some gifts from the warehouse and send them to the capital to celebrate her change in fortune," Shu Yu said.
Grandma Lu nodded repeatedly, "That's a good idea."
The two of them continued to select suitable items and then took them outside.
After having a good lunch, they would send these items to the escort agency.
Just after washing her hands, Ruan Shi returned.
She had bought a lot of things from the street. Tomorrow, Shu You would bring her son-in-law home, so she had to prepare well to entertain her new son-in-law.
When Ruan Shi mentioned her son-in-law, Grandma Lu suddenly slapped her forehead, "I almost forgot. I originally wanted to tell you about Lan Hua, but when I heard about Hou Shi's situation, I was too shocked and forgot about it."
Ruan Shi looked at her mother-in-law and then at her daughter, "What happened to Lan Hua? What happened to Hou Shi?"
Shu Yu briefly recounted Hou Shi's situation, and Ruan Shi widened her eyes in astonishment, finding it unbelievable.
