"My father used to run a escort business, but for the past ten years, he had been avoiding confrontation with the Gong Qiu and couldn't openly show himself. Starting an escort business was out of the question. Now that things have been settled, he feels restless and young enough to not want to be idle."
Meng Yunzheng took a sip of water, his voice less hoarse, and continued, "He originally wanted to return to his old business because that's what he was best at. However, the escort business in Tianning County has already been destroyed, and two new ones have opened. Starting another one won't bring in much business. As for Jiangyuan County..."
He chuckled, "First, he's not familiar with it, second, there are already two escort businesses here, and third, reopening a new escort business isn't easy. It requires significant initial investment and connections. He said he's not a young lad anymore, and since I've grown up, he doesn't need to spend money on my education. He thought of checking if the two existing escort businesses in the county are hiring escorts and if they are, he'll join them."
Shu Yu thought it was a reasonable decision.
Running an escort business is challenging, and besides, Meng Uncle hasn't been involved in the trade for over ten years, so he might not be familiar with the current market.
But she had another question, "So, when you returned to Meng's family this time, how did they react?"
These past few days had been busy, and Shu Yu hadn't had a chance to ask Meng Yunzheng about their journey.
Technically, Meng Pei was considered the head of the Meng family, but for all these years, he had been missing, and everyone assumed he was dead, so Meng Yunzheng's Uncle became the head of the family.
Now that he suddenly "came back from the dead" and returned to the Meng family, she wondered how they reacted to the situation.
In reality, if Meng Pei wanted to be active in the family's affairs, the Meng family's escort business was quite significant and wouldn't exclude him.
Seeing Shu Yu frown, Meng Yunzheng understood her worries and smiled, "My father isn't interested in being the head of the family. Otherwise, he wouldn't have handed over the main escort business to his younger brother and opened a branch in Tianning County. My uncle has managed the Meng family well, and my father was happy to return."
When they appeared at the Meng family, everyone was indeed shocked.
Meng Yunzheng's Uncle was genuinely happy; he respected Meng Pei as his elder brother, and they had a good relationship before.
Over the past ten years, not only did Gong Qiu search for Meng Pei, but Meng Yunzheng's Uncle also inquired about his whereabouts from time to time, refusing to believe that Meng Pei was dead.
So when they returned this time, Meng Yunzheng's Uncle was genuinely happy, but he was the only one.
Other people, although initially shocked and excited, gradually calmed down and became wary when they realized that Meng Pei's return might change the situation at the Meng family.
Meng Pei was insightful and didn't care about the family's wealth. He made it clear that he only came back to relocate his wife's grave to the ancestral tomb and would leave afterward.
Due to Gong Qiu's influence, the Meng family had a poor impression of Song Xin in the past.
If it were in the past, it would have taken some effort for Meng Pei to relocate her to the ancestral tomb. But now that they heard he would leave right after, no one stopped them, and everything went smoothly during their visit to the Meng family.
After Meng Yunzheng reestablished his identity with the family, the father and son set off to leave.
Meng Yunzheng's Uncle was reluctant to see them go, but his wife and children were eager for them to leave. Only when this elder brother left, would they be at ease.
