Shu Yu didn't follow them, saying, "Grandma, I'll have the coachman take you there."
Grandma Lu waved her hand, "Why use a coachman? It's not far, we'll walk there."
She said to Lan Hua, "Let's say we're going to his shop to buy some scissors and check out his character. We'll pick and choose, and if you don't like him, we'll just act as if we've never met him. If you're satisfied, then Lord Yu can arrange things with your father."
Seeing Grandma Lu's enthusiastic appearance, Shu Yu couldn't help but smile and shake her head.
After seeing them off, Shu Yu also bid farewell to Cui Hua.
Today, besides accompanying Grandma Lu, Shu Yu also came to see Meng Yunzheng.
Zhao Xi had bought a house and moved out, but Meng Yunzheng and Meng Pei still lived in Liufang Lane.
Zhao Xi wanted them to move into the new house together since there were more rooms there.
But the father and son of the Meng family thought it was inappropriate. It was fine to live together if he wasn't married, but now that he was married and had his own family, it wouldn't be convenient to live at Zhao's house.
Zhao Xi couldn't convince them, so he didn't force the issue.
After leaving Cui Hua's house, Shu Yu walked to the left side of the alley and stopped after passing about ten houses, knocking on the courtyard door.
Meng Yunzheng opened the door, looking a bit listless.
Seeing Shu Yu, his eyes lit up slightly, and he stepped aside to let her in. "Why are you here at this time?"
"Just happened to accompany grandma to come and see Lan Hua, so I came to visit. You don't look too well. Did you drink a lot of alcohol last night?"
Meng Yunzheng pinched his forehead. "Yes, Zhao Xi made me drink quite a bit."
Although Zhao Xi only had old doctor Zhao as a relative at the wedding, he had made quite a few friends during his travels.
Zhao Xi wanted to have a lively wedding, so he invited some friends from the nearby Dong'an Prefecture.
These young people were full of energy and didn't stop making noise.
Zhao Xi was the groom, so they didn't want to tease him too much, afraid of scaring the bride away. If the hard-won bride ran away, they would be in big trouble.
So after a few cups of wine, Zhao Xi was sent back to the bridal chamber.
The rest, including Xiang Weinan and Meng Yunzheng, drank a few cups as well. The former was the county magistrate and claimed to have official business the next day, so he drank one or two symbolic cups and left without lingering.
They weren't familiar with Xiang Weinan, and considering his identity, it wouldn't be appropriate to pressure him.
But Meng Yunzheng was different. He had been with Zhao Xi for these years, and Zhao Xi's friends were his friends as well. Moreover, they were very familiar with each other.
After learning that he was also engaged, they came over for him, naturally.
Meng Yunzheng felt helpless; he was in a good mood, so he had a few more drinks.
Having a hangover wasn't a pleasant feeling.
Seeing him rub his temples again, Shu Yu wanted to go to the kitchen and said, "I'll make you some hangover soup."
But Meng Yunzheng held her hand and pulled her back, sitting across from her. "No need, I've already taken some hangover medicine. Resting a bit will be fine, it's not a big deal. Don't bother, sit down, let's chat."
Shu Yu could only sit back down and looked around. She realized that she had been here for a while, but she hadn't seen Meng Pei. She couldn't help but ask, "Where's Uncle Meng?"
Meng Yun Zheng poured two glasses of water, "He went out, said he was going to the county town to familiarize himself with it and see if he could find some work."
Shu Yu was surprised, "Looking for work? What does Uncle Meng plan to do?"
