Shu Yu nodded, "Okay, tell me more about the groom-to-be."
"Lord Yu said he is his distant nephew. Their relationship is not very close, and they don't interact much in their daily lives. However, this young man is quite good."
Lord Yu's distant nephew is named Yu Fenglin, nineteen years old, and his parents passed away. He runs a blacksmith shop in the county.
He is hardworking and capable, even though he's only nineteen years old, he manages the blacksmith shop quite well.
Lord Yu mentioned that despite being his nephew, Yu Fenglin has never asked for help, unlike many other nephews who wanted to be adopted by Lord Yu due to his wealthy background.
After his mother's early death and his father's passing when he was fourteen, Yu Fenglin went through tough times. The blacksmith shop struggled to survive.
He did consider seeking help from Lord Yu but he thought about how he would manage on his own in the future if he became reliant on him. So he persevered and eventually turned the blacksmith shop around.
Later, people suggested marriage prospects, but due to the superstitions surrounding his deceased parents, he received proposals from families of lesser status, mostly attracted by the profitable blacksmith shop.
Yu Fenglin was not in a hurry; he simply focused on living his life well.
Lord Yu had almost forgotten about this nephew. If it weren't for the recent need to change horseshoes before his trip to the capital, he would have never discovered that the young blacksmith was his nephew.
Since adopting the twins, Lord Yu had become more gentle and patient.
As a relative, he took the opportunity to chat with Yu Fenglin while he was working at the blacksmith shop and learned about his current situation.
Through the conversation, Lord Yu found out that Yu Fenglin was still unmarried.
Thus, Lord Yu had the idea to help him and said, "Since your parents are no longer here, and I am your elder, I'll keep an eye out for a good match for you. I'll find you a suitable girl."
Yu Fenglin, being simple and straightforward, just agreed to it. He was at the age where he wouldn't mind settling down if there was a suitable girl.
At first, Lord Yu didn't think of Lan Hua as a candidate. But after hearing about Shu Yu's upcoming marriage, he suddenly remembered that there was a girl in the Lu family, a few months younger than Shu Yu.
Lord Yu didn't rush to propose the match; he first made inquiries about Lan Hua.
The young girl, although fond of looking beautiful, was diligent and earned her own living. She was more capable than ordinary girls.
Seeing the opportunity today, Lord Yu brought up the matter with Shu Yu's grandmother.
However...
Grandmother frowned, "There's one problem."
"What problem?"
"Lord Yu mentioned that Yu Fenglin is tall and strong, with a somewhat fierce appearance. I can understand that a blacksmith must have some strength to handle the job. But if he appears too fierce, Lan Hua might not be too pleased."
Considering Lan Hua's character, well... she's a girl who likes to dress up and is particular about appearances.
Last time, when Lan Hua was engaged to Ge Qifei, although his character was not good, he did have a good appearance. When Li Shi helped choose the groom, she must have considered Lan Hua's preferences.
