They didn't need to go to the western part of the city tonight; the time was already late, and even if they went, they wouldn't be able to gather much information about Master Miao.
However, Shu Yu knew a place where Mr. Miao frequently visited, and it was crucial to him.
She looked at Meng Yunzheng and said, "Auntie Hou mentioned to me that Master Miao goes to Dongqing Temple outside the city every month."
"Dongqing Temple?"
Shu Yu nodded, "Aunt Hou overheard it Master Miao had a conversation with the previous madam of Piaoxiang Courtyard. He visits Dongqing Temple regularly, at least once a month. Instead of aimlessly inquiring around, we might as well go there tomorrow morning and ask directly."
Hou Shi only revealed this information after she learned that Shu Yu was a disciple of the master at Dongqing Temple.
Evidently, Master Miao attached great importance to his visits to Dongqing Temple. So, if they asked the people there, they might gain some unexpected insights.
However, Hou Shi had left Piaoxiang Courtyard thirteen years ago, and she wasn't sure if Master Miao's habits from back then still remained.
Meng Yunzheng pondered for a moment before nodding.
They had come in haste and made no preparations. Their original plan was to discreetly gather information at Piaoxiang Courtyard. However, when they arrived at the entrance, they were almost dragged inside by the enthusiastic girls. The place was like a wolf's den, and if they accidentally saw something they shouldn't, it would be... well, quite awkward.
Now, they had a breakthrough, which was undoubtedly the best option.
The two left the entrance of Piaoxiang Courtyard and headed towards the city gate. Not far from the gate, they booked two rooms at an inn to rest.
The next morning, after changing their appearances, they were ready to check out.
However, just as they reached the stairs, Meng Yunzheng suddenly pulled Shu Yu back, hiding them both behind a corner of the wall.
"What's wrong?" Shu Yu asked.
Meng Yunzheng pointed downstairs at a man who was checking out, "I saw that man yesterday at the estate in the black market."
Although the man passed by hastily, Meng Yunzheng had an excellent memory and recognized him at a glance.
Shu Yu furrowed her brows, "It seems our guess was right. The master Guo, is indeed trying to sell the estate to Master Miao. Now, he's actively seeking him out."
Seeing that the man was checking out as well, it was likely that he had left the estate yesterday and came to the capital immediately after they did.
However, since he arrived late last night, he probably hadn't met Master Miao yet. So, he planned to leave early in the morning to find him.
"Tsk, there's definitely something fishy going on. The steward is definitely hiding something!" Shu Yu's eyes met with Meng Yunzheng's, and he said, "It seems we have to split up and act separately."
"Alright. You stay here and stall for time, create some trouble if possible. I'll go to Dongqing Temple immediately and inquire about the situation there." Shu Yu was more familiar with Dongqing Temple, so she was better suited for this task.
Meng Yunzheng nodded, and as he saw the man leaving the inn, he immediately followed him.
Once they left, Shu Yu went to the front desk to check out, then brought out her horse and headed straight for the city gate.
Dongqing Temple wasn't far from the city gate, and Shu Yu knew the way well as she went up the mountain.
At any time of day, there were many worshippers at the temple, especially in the morning when many people came early.
Shu Yu bypassed the front hall of the temple and headed straight to the backyard.
Most people were busy in the front, and there were only two or three nuns busy in the backyard.
When they saw Shu Yu, they were momentarily stunned. "Miss Lu?"
"Has my master returned?"
