Shu Yu took a few steps back subconsciously and blinked, asking him, "Ying Dong, what are you doing?"
"Miss, Ying Xi has told me everything. Ying Dong is here to thank you for your generosity, for helping us find out about our mother's whereabouts, and for allowing Ying Xi to pay respects to our father, and even..."
When it came to their parents and the fact that they were gone, Ying Dong couldn't help but choke up while speaking.
He kowtowed again, "Thank you, Miss." He truly hadn't expected to encounter such a good master family after being sold as a servant.
Shu Yu sighed, "Alright, get up and talk. I'm not used to this."
Ying Dong wiped his face and stood up.
Shu Yu walked towards the door while saying, "Since Ying Xi has already told you everything, what are your plans? Are you going to rest for a couple of days before setting off, or are you leaving today?"
Ying Dong replied, "Let Ying Xi rest for a couple of days. I need to handle matters at the estate properly before we can leave in a few days."
Shu Yu nodded, "As long as you have a plan in mind."
She didn't say much to Ying Dong and went to the storeroom to take some specialties she brought back from the capital. Then, she bid farewell to Grandma Lu, "Grandma, I'm going to the county office to find Xiang Weinan."
Grandma Lu saw her busy as soon as she returned and couldn't help but feel distressed, "Take a day off before going."
"No need."
"Then at least have breakfast first."
Shu Yu grabbed a steamed bun and an egg from the kitchen and ate them before heading out.
She didn't bring Ying Xi along and let her take care of Xiao Song Le and rest.
Walking on the streets of Jiangyuan County again, Shu Yu felt as if she had traveled back in time.
To be honest, the time she spent in Jiangyuan County might not even be as long as the time spent on her several trips.
However, she felt a sense of peace upon returning here.
When she arrived at the county office, she didn't need to report to the gatekeeper. They let her in directly, saying that Xiang Weinan was giving instructions and if she came these days, she could come in.
Shu Yu raised an eyebrow, thinking that Xiang Weinan probably knew about the situation in the capital and guessed that they would be back soon.
Xiang Weinan was in his study reviewing documents. When Shu Yu entered, he didn't even raise his head, "Wait until I finish reading this, sit for a while."
Shu Yu closed the study door behind her, found a chair, and sat down, idly observing the layout of the study.
It seemed... there was a subtle change since the last time she was here.
"I heard you caused quite a commotion in the capital," a smiling voice interrupted her thoughts.
Shu Yu turned her head back and sighed, "I didn't do anything."
"Is that so? Then how come I heard that you went to see Gongsu Hill with Yunzheng?"
Shu Yu, "...Haha, showing off your well-informed network, huh?"
She stood up, putting what she brought on the table, "I know you've been away from the capital for a long time, so you must miss the taste of your hometown. Yunzheng asked me to bring this to you."
Xiang Weinan looked at the oil-paper-wrapped package on the table with a complex expression.
This brat, Yunzheng, was clearly doing it on purpose. He was a local of the capital, who would fall for such a trickery intended for outsiders? Truly... he was being unreasonable!
But he still managed to force out a difficult sentence, "Thank you."
Seeing that he accepted the gift, Shu Yu took out a iron token from her purse and placed it on the table, "You gave this to me before I went to the capital. It allowed me to seek help from the Xiang family if I needed anything. Now that I'm back, I should return this token to you."
