Gouwa blinked, and this time he dared to touch the clothes with his little hands.
After a gentle touch, everything seemed fine. So he touched them again.
Shu Yu noticed his actions and saw that he liked the clothes.
She didn't bother trying any more outfits; instead, she prepared two more sets. They could switch between them during the journey.
In addition to the clothes, she also bought two small hats and three pairs of shoes. Finally, under the strong recommendation of the shopkeeper, she added a cloak.
Luckily, Shu Yu had some self-restraint, or else she might not have been able to stop herself.
Zhao Xi carried all the purchases back to the small courtyard first and asked Old doctor Zhao to load them onto the carriage.
As for Shu Yu, she held Gouwa in her arms and, accompanied by Ying Xi, headed to Hong's house.
Although Hong's house was only three streets away from their small courtyard, the environment was vastly different.
The noise was loud here, and the place was chaotic. The alleyways were piled with various items from different households. Children were running around, knocking things over and causing others to scold and make a ruckus.
As Shu Yu walked to Hong's house, her ears felt like they were buzzing from all the commotion.
Finally reaching Hong's doorstep, Shu Yu let out a long sigh of relief.
Ying Xi knocked on the door, and after a while, they heard a familiar voice from inside, "Coming, coming."
As expected, Aunt Hong opened the door. When she saw the people at the door, she was taken aback for a moment.
Seeing Gouwa again, her eyes welled up with tears.
She didn't react for a long time, but soon another voice came from inside, getting closer, "Mom, who is it? Why are you standing outside? You…"
As the voice approached, Shu Yu saw a young woman in her mid-twenties walking over, munching on melon seeds.
However, as soon as she saw Gouwa her expression changed drastically. Without saying a word, she wanted to close the door, "Gouwa has already been sent away, and we won't take him back. Don't even think about taking him back. Take him away, take him away."
Ying Xi held the door back, and Shu Yu frowned, glancing at the woman before telling Aunt Hong, "We didn't bring Gouwa back. We came to bid farewell."
Aunt Hong snapped out of her daze and gently rubbed her eyes. After understanding Shu Yu's words, she was stunned for a moment, "Farewell?"
"Yes, you left in a hurry yesterday, and we haven't had a chance to tell you. Today, we are leaving the capital."
Aunt Hong was shocked, "But... Gouwa..."
"We will take Gouwa with us, and we will take good care of him."
The young woman also stopped closing the door and looked at them with suspicion. She quickly noticed that Gouwa was wearing new clothes, which immediately brightened her eyes. She smiled and opened the door wide, "So, you came to bid farewell. Don't just stand at the door, come in and sit down. Let's talk inside."
Shu Yu didn't plan to talk at the door either and walked inside with Gouwa in her arms.
Aunt Hong hurriedly led them to the main hall and poured water for Shu Yu and Ying Xi. Then, she frowned and asked, "Why are you leaving in such a hurry?"
