Indeed, due to Song Xin's situation, the Song family had acquired some wealth.
Song Pei was in the process of finding a suitable bride when Song Xin encountered her troubles.
As for Song Qing, he was completely different from Song Pei. He and Song Xin were almost the same age and grew up together.
The two had a good relationship, and they didn't agree with their parents' plan to marry Song Xin off to a wealthy man. Whenever Song Qing brought up this matter, Song Xin would be punished and beaten, and this angered him immensely. He was almost driven to leave home because of it.
Later, he didn't dare to mention it anymore. Moreover, his parents forbade them from getting too close. As they grew older, their sibling relationship became less intimate than before.
When Song Qing was fourteen years old, he met a girl named Hong outside. She was two years older than him and at a marriageable age.
If Song Qing didn't propose marriage, Hong would have to marry someone else, as Hong's parents didn't want to take any risks. What if Song Qing didn't propose to her when he was old enough to marry? By then, it might be difficult for Hong to find a suitable match.
So, Song Qing talked to his parents about it, but they naturally disagreed.
Hong's family conditions were not good, and Song Qing was still young. When Song Xin married a wealthy man in the future, he would have more opportunities to choose from.
In order to prevent Song Qing from meeting with Hong, the Song family decided to keep him locked up at home.
Being young and impulsive, Song Qing couldn't accept the situation and ran away from home with Hong.
This act caused both families to be furious.
Hong's family wanted their daughter back, but the Song family claimed that Hong's family didn't educate their daughter properly. The two families were at odds with each other.
aunt Hong was the wife of Hong's elder brother, and she had also visited the Song family during that time and met Song Xin.
After Song Qing left, three years had passed. During this time, Song Xin became a Concubine and experienced unfortunate events, leaving the capital city.
Everyone thought Song Xin was dead, and life for the Song family became even more difficult.
At this time, Song Qing returned to the Song family with his wife and a one-year-old child.
Both of them were young and had suffered a lot outside. They had no other choice but to return home.
However, they didn't know that at the time, Gong Qiu had already planned to exterminate the entire Song family.
After being taken back by Gong Qiu, Meng Yunzheng had inquired about the situation of the Song family.
The information he received was that the entire Song family had perished in a fire.
It was a familiar method. Wasn't his mother also destroyed in the same way?
Meng Yunzheng didn't need to investigate; he knew that this must have been the work of Gong Qiu and Concubine Liu.
Although Song Xin had only discovered Gong Qiu and Concubine Liu's affair after leaving the Song family, she was later controlled by them. But Gong Qiu apparently didn't trust her, so he wanted to erase all traces of her after her supposed 'death.'
Unfortunately, Song Qing was extremely unfortunate. He had only returned a few months before encountering this disaster of mass murder and extermination.
Meng Yunzheng looked at Aunt Hong and asked, "You say you are my little uncle's sister-in-law. Is there something you came for today, Aunt Hong?"
Aunt Hong pointed to the thin child standing beside Shu Yu and said, "This child is your little uncle's grandson, Gouwa."
Meng Yunzheng and Meng Pei turned their heads to look at the silent child.
Shu Yu was truly... shocked by the name.
