Old Zhao was even more displeased, "What do you mean, your daughter-in-law? Let me tell you, Da Ya will soon become my disciple's wife, and San Ya will become my apprentice. In that sense, I am closer to Shu Yu's maternal family than you are."
"Pfft." Meng Pei sneered without any courtesy, "You're calling yourself her maternal family when you're just meeting her for the first time today? Can you stop trying to exaggerate?"
"Meng Pei, do you want to fight?"
"Let's fight then. I've practiced martial arts since I was a child. With your physique, one punch from me and you'll be crying for mercy."
Old Zhao glared at him, "Fine, then I'll poison you, and you'll die a miserable death with blood flowing from your seven orifices."
"Come on, let's see who bleeds first or whose hair gets pulled out."
" as if I'm afraid of you."
Shu Yu, "..."
She felt like she was just an extra here. Should she leave now?
Of course, she couldn't leave. Especially when she heard the two of them arguing, turning red in the face, and starting to cough, she quickly stepped forward, "Uncles, let's calm down first, please calm down."
She raised her voice, and Meng Pei immediately quieted down when he saw it was her speaking, taking a step back.
Old Zhao was still spewing saliva, but he was instantly scorned by Meng Pei, "Shu Yu already asked us to calm down, and you are still arguing in front of her, making a fool of yourself in front of the younger generation."
"I..."
Shu Yu was somewhat surprised by Meng Pei's actions. Before meeting him, she had only heard about him from Meng Yunzheng, and her impression was that he was a straightforward and open-minded elder.
However, now that she had seen him, his rough and straightforward way of speaking made her feel that he was a simple and honest person.
Having witnessed Meng Pei's behavior, Shu Yu suddenly thought... maybe she was shortsighted.
Shu Yu's expression was somewhat subtle, and Meng Pei noticed. He cleared his throat awkwardly, feeling a little embarrassed.
Old Zhao laughed heartily, "Serves you right."
Meng Pei glared at him fiercely.
Fortunately, the two of them finally stopped arguing. Shu Yu quickly said, "Uncles, you've come from afar, you must be tired. Let me go to the kitchen and get you two bowls of noodles. After you eat, you can rest in your rooms for a while. If there's anything to talk about, we can do so after you've rested. Yunzheng and Zhao Xi should be back by then."
Meng Pei and Old Zhao were indeed tired. Meng Pei was relatively young and practiced martial arts, so his body was still strong.
Old Zhao, although he was Zhao Xi's master and roughly the same age as Meng Pei, looked quite young. However, his actual age was fifteen years older than Meng Pei, who was almost forty.
So, they didn't refuse and agreed to Shu Yu's suggestion.
Shu Yu brought Ying Xi to the kitchen and quickly prepared two bowls of hot noodles.
The two men were famished, and as they ate, they praised the noodles incessantly, as if it was the most delicious thing in the world.
If it were compliments from strangers, Shu Yu would have happily accepted them, but since it was Meng Pei and Old Zhao, she could only smile at their praises.
Both Meng Pei and Old Zhao were satisfied after eating, and they each went to rest in Meng Yunzheng and Zhao Xi's rooms.
Shu Yu closed the door and finally let out a sigh of relief.
She looked at Ying Xi and asked, "Do you have any impression of Uncle Meng?"
Ying Xi shook her head; she was only three years old back then, and she no longer had any memories from that time.
Shu Yu didn't ask any more questions. They couldn't go out today, so she decided to make a shopping list to go out and purchase things later.
Uncle Meng had come, and once they relocated Aunt Meng's grave, they would probably leave the capital very soon.
