Yao Hong believed that her brother's unfortunate situation was all caused by Wang Jiayi. If she hadn't been caught on the spot and betrayed her brother and her maid, Yao An wouldn't have been subjected to family law. Especially when Yao An was seriously injured, Wang Jiayi escaped unscathed.
If she hadn't caused such a big commotion, even if her brother's drugging attempt failed, at least it wouldn't have been discovered.
Now, not only did he get beaten, but he was also driven out of the Yao family. This whole month they had spent in the capital had been in vain.
Furthermore, Wang Jiayi disliked her brother, so it was strange for Yao Hong to expect her to treat him nicely.
Yao Tianqin believed that when Yao An woke up and she was free, Wang Jiayi's days would be very difficult.
After Yao An and his party were sent away, everything came to a close.
Shu Yu was planning to take her leave and go back. However, Madam Yao still felt guilty. After some thought, she decided to give her many things and even opened the storeroom for her to pick whatever she liked.
The Yao family had returned to the capital for less than a year, but the storeroom was quite full.
Although the Yao family generally did not accept gifts from strangers or unfamiliar people, when Yao Tianqing was reinstated, many colleagues, superiors, and old friends sent congratulatory gifts.
Then, when he was promoted, another wave of gifts arrived.
Coupled with the rewards and compensations from the Emperor, the Yao family's storeroom was filled with many precious items.
Shu Yu could not possibly go through the Yao family's storeroom, so in the end, Madam Yao took things out for her, filling up a large portion of the carriage.
Part of it was for Shu Yu, and the rest was for the Da Ya.
Shu Yu had mentioned to Yao Lady that the Da Ya was getting married soon. Compared to Shu Yu, they had more contact with the Da Ya, and they naturally had a close relationship.
Especially when they found out that the other party was marrying Zhao Xi, the Yao family members were all very happy for her.
They couldn't attend the wedding in Dong'an Prefecture, but they had to prepare congratulatory gifts. Madam Yao had already prepared them yesterday.
Looking at the piled-up gift boxes, Shu Yu sighed lightly.
She felt like a locust crossing through, coming to someone's home and taking away so many things.
Afraid that madam Yao would want to give more, she quickly had Ying Xi drive the carriage back to the Southern Residence.
Meng Yunzheng was not here; Zhao Xi said he would return tomorrow. Shu Yu tidied up and went back to her room to sleep. She had hardly slept last night, so she fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
The next day, Shu Yu woke up a bit late, and Zhao Xi had already gone out.
During this time, he had been busy collecting medicinal herbs and making medicine. He also had to visit a few cloth shops to find suitable fabrics for the Eldest Maid to take back to Jiangyuan County. He was a dutiful fiancé.
No one was at home, so Shu Yu planned to finish breakfast and go out to the streets.
The sunflowers her family grew were a rare commodity. They could be used as dried goods or for oil extraction, but she was still considering the pricing.
Jiangyuan County or Dong'an Prefecture didn't have many rare items, so Shu Yu wanted to see if there was any similar product pricing in the capital.
After having breakfast and tidying up, Shu Yu was ready to go out.
Unexpectedly, just as she was about to leave, there was a knock on the door outside the courtyard. Ying Xi was harnessing the horses, so Shu Yu went to open the door herself.
When she opened the door, she saw two middle-aged men standing outside, one tall and one short, both very lean.
The tall one had sharp eyes, and the short one looked kinder.
Shu Yu looked at the two strangers in surprise and asked, "Who are you looking for?"
***do you have idea who are those two gentlemen are?
Should I cliffs hang you guys? hehe😈
