In the next moment, Yao Bo took a rattan whip, which was made by tying two thumb-thick rattan strips together, over a meter long, and it looked terrifying.
Yao An's face turned pale, and he struggled and glared angrily at Yao Tianqing on the main seat. "You can't hit me! I'm not your family member. Why do you have the right to administer family law on me? Who do you think you are?"
He panicked and desperately tried to break free from the restraint of the servants behind him.
Yao Hong also screamed, trying to rush over to save her brother, but the Yao family's servants held her tightly, preventing her from moving.
And Wang Jiayi, who was hiding in the corner, turned even paler, hoping that she could disappear and avoid the whipping.
"Yao Tianqing, you're just my uncle separated by several generations. How dare you hit me! When I go back and tell my father, he won't spare you. Stop it! I'm a guest here. Treating guests like this, aren't you afraid of being ridiculed by others?"
The rattan whip was already raised high, and upon hearing Yao An's arrogant shouting, Yao Tianqing's disappointment in him grew.
He spoke slowly, "I'll give you two choices. First, I will use the family law as a member of the Yao family. Second, you can go to the capital, where I'll report what you've done as a guest plotting against the host. You can weigh the consequences yourself."
Yao An's defiant voice suddenly stopped, and Yao Hong's cries ceased as well.
Even Wang Jiayi and her two companions stared at Yao Tianqing.
Yao Bo coldly added from the side, "Once you go to the authorities, considering what you've done today, a good beating might be the least of your worries."
Yao An shuddered; he knew, he definitely knew.
Apart from Yao Bo, there was also Lu Shu Yu, who was a village lord.
A village lord with a strong background. If that official, Minister Qi, or Minister Jing found out, they could apply pressure to the capital prefecture, and he would lose half his life.
Therefore, he stopped talking.
Seeing his silence, Yao Tianqing sneered, "It seems you're willing to endure the family law."
As he spoke, he raised the rattan whip high and without a second word, he swung it down heavily.
"Ah..." Yao An thought he could endure it, but the pain was beyond his imagination. It hurt so much that he couldn't even make a sound. He wished he could just faint and escape the pain.
But the second strike followed immediately, and it was even harder than the first one. Even if he fainted, he might wake up in agony.
Yao Tianqing showed no mercy with his actions. Despite being a Ministry of Works official, he was more accustomed to working with wooden tools. His body was robust, and his strength was unreserved.
The clothes worn in late summer and early autumn were not thick, and Yao An, as a pampered young man, quickly had blood seeping from his back. The whip marks crisscrossed his back, making a horrifying sight.
Yao Hong cried until her voice became hoarse, and Yao An could no longer bear it. He started to sway and was on the verge of collapse.
Seeing this, Yao Tianqing increased the speed of the subsequent strikes. After a total of twenty lashes, he let out a heavy breath, stopped, and handed the rattan whip to Yao Bo beside him.
Yao An's body swayed, and he fell to the ground, completely unconscious.
Zhao Xi, who had been coldly watching, became extremely enthusiastic and immediately stepped forward to help him up. "I am a doctor. Let me check him. Come, let's carry him back to the room."
Shu Yu looked at him suspiciously, feeling that he was overly enthusiastic.
Yao Hong followed them, behaving like a good girl, not daring to say a word.
