The servants of the Yao family were not numerous, so for convenience, female guests were arranged to stay in the back courtyard, while male guests like Yao An were accommodated in the front courtyard's wing rooms.
A floral archway separated the front and back courtyards, and it was closed at night with an old woman guarding it.
Therefore, when Yao An appeared in the inner courtyard, he was most likely hiding in Yao Hong's room.
Administering the drug to Shu Yu was a planned action.
Ying Xi whispered, "Miss, they are coming this way."
Shu Yu nodded and said to Yingsi, "Let's go out first."
The two of them left the room and found a corner to hide.
Not long after, they indeed saw Yao An hurrying along with the servant girl.
Yao An pretended to knock on the door, but the moment he knocked, the door opened, and he turned to look at the servant girl, then anxiously stepped into the room. "Lu Xiangjun, how are you? I just heard from the servant girl that you're not feeling well. Did you..."
But there was no one in the room. The candle was still burning, but there wasn't even a shadow inside.
Yao An frowned, "Where is she?"
The servant girl also looked confused and immediately thought of something, "Could she be unwell and went to find someone to call a doctor?"
Yao An's face changed slightly. Find someone outside? That wouldn't do. What advantage would he have then?
"They can't have gone far. Let's quickly look around nearby."
However, Shu Yu and Ying Xi had already left.
The Yao residence was quiet at night, unlike the Jing family, where there were plenty of servants patrolling.
Ying Xi asked softly, "Miss, what should we do next?"
Shu Yu was contemplating, "What do you think Yao An was trying to do by giving me the drug?"
Before Ying Xi could answer, Shu Yu continued, "During the day, ever since he knew I am Lu Xiangjun and that I have a good relationship with Minister Qi, his attitude towards me changed a lot. He's been very attentive and has been trying to find ways to get close to me. At first, I thought he was just trying to please me so that I wouldn't mind what he said before, but I didn't expect him to drug me at night."
Ying Xi, who grew up in a mercenary organization, was aware of many lowly methods. She didn't need Shu Yu to explain further, she already knew what the drug was intended for. She frowned and turned, "I'll go and kill him."
She was ready to leave, but Shu Yu quickly pulled her back. "Wait, don't be hasty. It's not good to take action against Yao An in the Yao residence."
Ying Xi took a few deep breaths, suppressing her anger. She clenched her lips tightly, "Miss, what should we do now?"
What should they do?
This was the Yao residence, and Shu Yu didn't want to cause trouble for Uncle Yao and Aunt Yao, who had been kind to her. However, this matter had to be brought to their attention.
She thought for a moment, "Let's go find Aunt Yao first."
Despite the late hour, there was no other choice.
As the two were heading towards the main courtyard, they saw a figure skulking ahead.
"Miss, isn't that..."
"Wang Jiayi."
Shu Yu smiled. Tonight at the Yao residence was indeed eventful.
Whether it was the siblings Yao An and Yao Hong or Wang Jiayi, they were all quite active.
Shu Yu observed Wang Jiayi's direction, and it seemed like he was heading toward Yao Bo's courtyard.
Shu Yu changed her mind, "Let's follow her and see what she's up to."
