Shu Yu looked at the sky and felt somewhat helpless. She had wanted to come back tomorrow, but considering that Yao Tianqin would still be busy until late at night, she had to give up on that idea.
Madam Yao immediately had a guest room prepared and invited Shu Yu to stay for the night.
Following Yao Tianqin to his study, Shu Yu saw him take out a box filled with drawings.
Yao Tianqin rarely met someone like Lu Erbai, who shared the same passion for woodworking. Although he was now the Assistant Minister of Works, most of the people in the ministry were solely focused on advancing their official careers. Even the few dedicated workers were influenced by this atmosphere, and as a senior official, Yao Tianqin didn't dare to express his own opinions easily.
Thus, Yao Tianqin missed the days when he could freely discuss and exchange ideas with Lu Erbai in Heichang County. Unfortunately, Lu Erbai was not in the capital, and communicating with him took too much time.
Finally, he had the chance to meet Shu Yu, and Yao Tianqin had a lot to say to her.
He took out the drawings and placed them in front of Shu Yu. "Take these back to your father and let him have a look. These are the drafts I drew after returning from the southwest. These are the initial drafts, and the ones on top are the revised versions based on the initial drafts. I always feel that something is lacking. When you go back, ask your father for his thoughts. Sit down, and I'll explain it all to you so that you can convey it to your father."
Shu Yu, "..."
She could only sit down quietly and listen as Yao Tianqin introduced each drawing.
But the introductions were not enough for him. He also taught Shu Yu, afraid that she might not fully understand and would not be able to explain clearly to Lu Erbai.
After confirming that Shu Yu understood everything, Yao Tianqin sighed deeply with a touch of emotion, "It would be great if you were a man. So intelligent, understanding everything effortlessly, reading and writing without difficulty. You could easily take the imperial examinations."
Unfortunately, there were no examples of women becoming officials in the Da Su Dynasty.
Shu Yu chuckled twice and suppressed the drowsiness in her eyes.
After listening to Yao Tianqin's ideas for the drawings, she also needed to give him Lu Erbai's drawings.
Fortunately, her father's drawings were clear and well marked, so she didn't need to interpret them. Yao Tianqin could understand them at a glance.
By the time they left the study, it was already late in the evening.
Kang Shi and Yao Bo had already gone to rest, leaving only Madam Yao waiting outside. When she saw Shu Yu come out, she quickly approached and said, "You must be tired, Shu Yu. Your Uncle Yao gets really obsessed with those precious drawings and doesn't even consider the time. Look at how late it is, and he still didn't let me disturb him in the study."
Shu Yu waved her hand, "It's alright."
"I had the kitchen make some bird's nest porridge for you. Would you like to have some before you go to bed?"
Shu Yu looked at the sky. It was indeed very late. Although she had dinner early, Yao Tianqin had talked for such a long time that she was genuinely hungry. So, she didn't refuse and followed Madam Yao to the flower hall to eat.
As they entered the flower hall, a servant girl who had been observing from afar quickly turned around and hurriedly ran to another direction.
Before long, she arrived at the entrance of a guest room and called out in a low voice, "Miss, Miss?"
The room's door was opened, and the servant girl quickly entered. However, besides Yao Hong, who should have been resting in her room, Yao An was unexpectedly there as well.
As soon as Yao An saw the servant girl enter, he anxiously asked, "How is it?"
