Shu Yu was taken aback. Wang Jiayi's ambitions were no ordinary matter.
"Do you think her thoughts are too naive? Even if you and Yao Bo divorce, as the legitimate son of Yao Bo, he can marry another woman, but there's no way he would choose her," Shu Yu pointed out.
Kang Shi took a deep breath and drank some water before continuing, "She must be too naive to think that far ahead. If she had such a cunning mind, she wouldn't have developed such intentions."
When Kang Shi married Yao Bo, Yao Tianqin was still an unknown and humble official, and their family's background was mediocre at best. In contrast, Wang Jiayi considered her own background superior, thinking that she was more suitable to be Yao Bo's wife.
Wang Jiayi was unaware of the past events and believed that despite being married to Yao Bo for so many years, Kang Shi had not borne any children. If this were another family, she might have been divorced by now.
But Yao Bo had not only refrained from divorcing her, he hadn't even taken any concubines.
Wang Jiayi was young, beautiful, and capable of bearing children. In her view, she was far superior to Kang Shi in every aspect, fueling her ambitions.
She could consider being with Yao An, but he had an average character, loved playing around, and lacked promising prospects. Now at eighteen or nineteen years old, he was merely a student scholar.
Moreover, Yao An's family was not harmonious, and his parents did not get along well, which Wang Jiayi had personally experienced.
Yao Bo, on the other hand, was different. Before the troubles in Yao's family, he had been a scholar. It was a pity that he had spent five years in the southwest taking care of his parents and wife, which led to neglecting his studies.
But now he had returned. Not only that, he had entered the National Academy to study. As the son of a Ministry of Works' Assistant Minister, and the only son in the family, his future was bright.
Furthermore, Yao Tianqin and Yao's wife were both easygoing and not domineering. The backyard of Yao's family was also clean and tidy. If she married into the Yao family, she would be the one in charge.
Comparing all the aspects, Wang Jiayi felt that Yao Bo was the best choice, and such an opportunity was rare. She naturally wouldn't miss it.
Kang Shi continued, "I didn't know about her plans before. She rarely speaks in front of us, behaving like a humble servant. She only listens to Yao An and Yao Hong's words. How could we have known that she had shifted her focus? It was Yao Bo who told me that Wang Jiayi seemed to be in poor health. She fell twice in front of him, making me and my mother pay attention to her in case anything happens in our house and we end up being responsible for it."
Yao Bo had been studying at the National Academy and came back occasionally when he heard about Kang Shi's pregnancy.
However, even so, he still came and went early and late, rarely seen during the day, except when he was on break.
So Wang Jiayi had very few opportunities to see him. Even though she knew she couldn't rush things, she couldn't help but make a big fuss. After all, they were in the capital, and they didn't know how long they could stay.
However, she didn't know that Yao Bo, like Kang Shi, thought that she and Yao An were a couple and didn't consider her intentions at all.
Besides, he was now wholly focused on his studies and on Kang Shi's pregnancy.
He had no energy to think about the hidden intentions of someone who had fallen in front of him twice, let alone feeling annoyed by Yao An living in their home, causing trouble.
