Shu Yu smiled, "It's fate between you and this child."
However, Kang Shi shook her head. She had been married to Yao Bo for six or seven years, just before her father-in-law was exiled.
It was a coincidence that during that time, when her father-in-law was framed and imprisoned before being exiled to the southwest, she was already pregnant.
At that time, the whole family was distressed, their minds entirely focused on dealing with her father-in-law's situation. Kang Shi was no exception. Moreover, her menstrual cycle was irregular, so she didn't think much of it when she missed her periods during that hectic time.
Little did she know that the missed periods were due to her pregnancy.
The whole family was in a state of distress, and her own condition was also affected. She had no appetite, couldn't sleep at night, and occasionally felt nauseous, but she didn't think much of it during that tumultuous period.
By the time the verdict was given, Yao Tianqin was sentenced to exile to the southwest. Kang Shi's mother-in-law fainted, and her husband sought help everywhere to no avail.
In the end, they decided to accompany Yao Tianqin to the southwest.
Kang Shi's family wanted her to stay with them, but she refused and decided to follow her mother-in-law, firmly joining the exile.
The journey was fraught with hardships. It took Yao Tianqin almost two months to reach Linzhang Prefecture. By that time, Kang Shi's belly was slightly showing.
It was then that everyone realized she was already four months pregnant, but they were too late in discovering this. Moreover, it was too late to prevent a miscarriage when she started showing signs of it.
After being taken to the medical clinic, taking two doses of medicines to stabilize her pregnancy did not save the child.
Kang Shi's health deteriorated as a result, and during the five years in the southwest, she was unable to conceive again.
Yao Tianqin blamed himself, feeling that it was because of him that they lost the child.
Yao Bo and Yao Tianqin felt guilty for not being careful enough. They were remorseful about the matter.
As a result, even after five or six years, Yao's family didn't urge her to have another child. They feared it might cause her distress, so they consoled her, saying it was fine even if she didn't have children. They could only attribute it to fate and asked her to relax.
However, that was easier said than done.
The pressure on Kang Shi's mind grew heavier every day. Without a child, she blamed herself the most. Others might not be aware of her physical condition, but she should be the most aware.
However, whether in Heichang County or Linzhang Prefecture, the medical skills of the doctors were quite limited. Despite seeing many doctors and taking numerous medicines, none had much effect.
Later, Ruan Shi heard about this and knew that Zhao Xi knew some medical skills. However, they didn't know the specifics, so she asked Shu Yu for advice.
Shu Yu went to inquire with Zhao Xi.
After examining Kang Shi, Zhao Xi administered acupuncture and prescribed some medicine, telling her to stop taking the other medications and only take the ones he prescribed.
The Yao family trusted the Lu family and the doctor they recommended. Despite the young age of the doctor they found, they still obediently followed his advice and took the medicine.
After taking the medicine for less than half a year, she actually became pregnant.
Kang Shi was happy. "I just reached three months yesterday. Other than my parents and brother Bo, I only told you. Even my family doesn't know yet."
In this region, it was common not to reveal the news until the pregnancy reached three months and the fetus was stable.
However, Kang Shi was still worried. "My health was poor before, so I'm being extra careful. But recently, because of those three people's matters, I've been feeling really depressed. Ah Yu, do you think it will have an impact?"
There would certainly be an impact. The mood of a pregnant woman was especially important.
