Chapter 1127 Yao An's Thoughts

"Do you understand what 'confidences' mean?" Shu Yu asked with a smile.
Yao Hong hesitated, feeling somewhat embarrassed. She stopped chasing after them and simply watched as they left the hall and returned to their own courtyard.
After Zhu Mama left as well, Yao Hong couldn't help but stomp her foot in frustration. "What is she trying to do..."
Wang Jiayi, who had been silent all along, whispered, "Cousin, she's a village lord."
"So what if she's a village lord? My uncle is still the assistant Minister of Works." Yao Hong acted as if she hadn't seen the world, dismissing the importance of a relatively unknown village lord trying to impress her.
Yao An glanced at her, his eyes gleaming brightly. Lowering his voice, he asked, "Sister, what do you think about me marrying her and making her your sister-in-law?"
Yao Hong widened her eyes in surprise, subconsciously glancing at Wang Jiayi beside her. "But, but..."
Wang Jiayi, however, had already lowered her head.
Yao Hong hesitated to speak further to avoid making the situation even more awkward.
But she didn't have any positive feelings toward Shu Yu. She immediately disagreed, "I don't think it's a good idea. Brother, she's just a village lord, not some remarkable person. We've met county princesses and marquis princesses before. What's so special about her?"
Yao An turned back, giving her a sidelong glance. "Do you understand anything? She might be a village lord now, but look at the people she knows. Never mind our uncle; there's also that Jing guy. When the Ministry of Justice was involved in the Second Prince's case, he was promoted from Assistant Minister to Minister. It shows how much the Emperor values him."
"And that's not all. There's also Ministry Qi. He's a favored person in front of the Emperor. He holds significant influence in the court. Even he remembered a simple village lord's birthday. Doesn't this indicate something? If I marry her, and I want to secure an official position in the future, do I still need to fawn over our uncle?"
Yao Hong was taken aback. Indeed, this Shu Yu, although a mere village lord was acquainted with some influential figures.
If her brother married her, and he could genuinely secure a position in the capital, their marriage prospects would be much easier to handle.
However, it would be a slight on Wang Jiayi's part.
But it didn't matter. As long as her brother cherished Wang Jiayi, she would still win in the end.
Yao Hong couldn't help but look at Wang Jiayi again, but the latter kept her head low, seemingly absent-minded.
The three of them fell into silence, each harboring their own thoughts.
Unaware that she was being discussed, Shu Yu followed Kang Shi back to her courtyard. Kang Shi sat down with the help of her maids, visibly relieved.
Shu Yu noticed this and was slightly puzzled. She asked cautiously, "Sister-in-law, is there something wrong?"
Kang Shi saw Shu Yu's gaze falling on her belly and smiled gently. She nodded, "Yes, I'm pregnant. Just reached three months."
"Really?" Shu Yu's eyes lit up. "Congratulations, sister-in-law."
Kang Shi blushed slightly and said in a soft voice, "To be honest, I have to thank you. It was because of you that I brought Doctor Zhao to check on me. Later, he prescribed some medicine, and I've been taking it. My body has slowly improved, or else I wouldn't know when this child would come."
She reached out and touched her still-flat belly, her eyes filled with tenderness.
