Yao An had been resentful because Shu Yu had previously embarrassed him several times. He always assumed the worst about her character.
As if demeaning her could somehow relieve his frustration.
Now, seeing Shu Yu and Yao Tianqin enter with smiles on their faces, he was momentarily stunned.
But before he could figure out their relationship, his younger sister, Yao Hong, couldn't wait to speak, "Aunt, you see, I told you that girl is unruly. Not only did she try to seduce my brother, but now that she sees Uncle, she shamelessly goes over to get close to him. Look at how affectionate she is; I've never seen Uncle so happy. This girl is truly cunning, she..."
However, before she could finish her words, Madam Yao stood up in surprise and quickly walked over.
"Ah Yu?"
Shu Yu looked up, and Madam Yao had already reached her side, her eyes filled with delight. "Ah Yu, why is it you? How did you come to the capital?"
Kang Shi also stepped forward, greeting with a smile, "So it's the Second Young Lady who came; what an unexpected and esteemed guest. Last time when you came, you didn't leave a message, and Mother and I guessed for a long time. We didn't expect you to come to the capital. Come, come, please sit."
Yao An and the others were dumbfounded as they watched their aunt's warm reception. They never imagined that this unfamiliar girl would be so familiar with the Yao family.
When they first came to the Yao family, neither Madam Yao nor their sister-in-law treated them so warmly. They were treated quite ordinarily.
Thinking about this, they felt quite uncomfortable.
However, before they could think much more, Yao Tianqin furrowed his brow and asked, "What do you mean by 'last time when you came'? Ah Yu has been here before? How come I didn't know about this?"
Madam Yao glanced at Yao An and the others, then pulled Yao Tianqin aside, saying, "I'll tell you about this later. But, why did you come back at this time?"
Yao Tianqin explained, "I left the blueprint I drew last night in the study. I rushed out this morning and forgot to bring it. I came back to get it."
Madam Yao said, "Then go quickly."
"No rush, no rush. Ah Yu just arrived, and I..." Yao Tianqin tried to explain.
Madam Yao glared at him, "Ah Yu has us here, I have something to ask her, and I'll have someone from the government office report a leave for me."
Shu Yu couldn't help but rub her forehead. "Uncle Yao, go attend to your business. If you have something to ask me, you can do it later."
At present, Yao Tianqin couldn't afford to take a leave. The Ministry of Works was lacking capable people. A few months ago, when a Minister of Works was dismissed due to poor management and unfavorable subordinates, Yao Tianqin took over the position.
But now, another Minister of Works, Gong Qiu, had also lost his head. Not only him, many officials from the Ministry of Works were implicated, resulting in a severe shortage of personnel.
Not to mention Yao Tianqin, even the Minister of Works, who had originally planned to retire and only act as a stabilizing force, had to come out and work.
Originally, the Minister of Works was also going to be held accountable for poor management and unfavorable subordinates, but because the Ministry of Works lacked people, he was allowed to stay in the position to make amends and stabilize the Ministry of Works.
Therefore, Yao Tianqin couldn't afford to take a leave, and he could only squeeze out a half-hour more sleep each day.
Shu Yu didn't want to cause trouble for him with her arrival at this critical time.
