After leaving the Supreme Court, Meng Yunzheng didn't return to the Gong family, which no longer existed.
Gong Chang had been hastily buried, Gong Ya was still in prison, and Madam Gong's health had deteriorated further after suffering the tragic death of her son and being implicated in the rebellion. She had fainted in the courtroom during the initial trial and occasionally regained consciousness but fell into a coma again.
The physician had already declared that her days were numbered.
The other members of the Gong family were also arrested and detained, and the entire Gong family was sealed off.
Shu Yu was a bit puzzled about this.
According to what he knew from the novel, the plot only mentioned Gong Qiu being executed, with no mention of other members of the Gong family being punished.
Wait a minute…
Upon careful consideration, it seemed that the other members of the Gong family were indeed not punished. Before the sentencing, Gong Xiao had already left the Gong family, madam Gong had passed away from her illness, Gong Chang had been murdered, and Gong Ya had been sentenced to death for her crimes.
So, in fact, the other members of the Gong family were not implicated in Gong Qiu's case.
Shu Yu rubbed his forehead. Could this be possible?
Just as he was pondering, someone knocked on the door outside the courtyard. Ying Xi immediately said, "It must be Master Meng returning."
Shu Yu was currently staying in a small courtyard in the south of the city.
This courtyard was bought by Meng Yunzheng in his early years, and Zhao Xi had already prepared it for them as their current residence.
Knowing that Meng Yunzheng was returning today, Shu Yu and Ying Xi had come over early.
Ying Xi rushed to open the door and indeed saw Meng Yunzheng, who had been brought back by Zhao Xi.
Seeing that he looked a bit haggard, Shu Yu felt some concern. Although he had been staying at the Supreme Court as a witness, the living conditions were not bad. However, it was still not his home, and besides, he was the one who reported Gong Qiu. The Supreme Court was not without Gong Qiu's people, so he was always on edge.
For the past half month, Meng Yunzheng had been feeling uneasy.
Now that he was back home, surrounded by close people, he finally relaxed.
Shu Yu pulled him into the main room and quickly brought over some food, saying, "Eat up quickly. These are your favorite dishes. After eating, take a nap and rest well. You've been through a lot during this time."
Meng Yunzheng smiled faintly, "It's actually not that bad."
What "not that bad"? How could it not be that bad?
He had endured for over a decade, finally found an opportunity to bring down Gong Qiu and Liu Guifei, faced an investigation from the three judiciary bodies, and dealt with the Second Prince and the Third Prince, people with high positions and power. He also had to guard against the forces of the Second Prince, worried that Gong Qiu might have the ability to counterattack at any moment.
The energy and effort he had invested in these many years for this moment were beyond imagination.
Meng Yunzheng just smiled and didn't refute. He obediently took the chopsticks handed to him and sat across from Shu Yu to eat.
After finishing his meal, he obediently went to take a hot bath and was then pushed to bed by Shu Yu.
He slept through the night and woke up the next morning. Looking up at the ceiling, Meng Yunzheng felt an unusual sense of peace.
Finally… he had avenged his mother.
On the day Gong Qiu was executed, he would personally go to his mother's grave and tell her the good news.
Meng Yunzheng got up and left his room, intending to find Shu Yu. However, he saw Shu Yu dressing up in male attire, which she had done before.
He was stunned, "Why are you dressing like this again?"
