After Minister Jing left, the emperor sat back on the dragon throne, took a deep breath, and told Xi Ping, "Summon the Third Prince and bring those adulterous scoundrels in here!"
"Yes, Your Majesty."
Xi Ping left the room, and by the time the Third Prince led the caught Gong Qiu and the Imperial Consort into the study, Minister Jing was already outside the palace.
He turned around, looking at the towering palace walls in front of him, and smiled as he boarded the waiting carriage.
He instructed his attendants, "Later, go to the Gong family and bring Lu Xiangjun back. I don't think she can wait for Gong Qiu to return."
Although he said it was to bring someone back, in reality, he was passing a message to Meng Yunzheng.
The Fifth Prince had taken action, and the Third Prince had personally witnessed Gong Qiu and the Imperial Consort in their secret meeting. Now, whether it was Gong Qiu, the Imperial Consort, the Third Prince, or the Second Prince, they could all be dealt with in one fell swoop.
Minister Jing sighed with relief. After years of planning, everything would soon be settled.
He returned to the Ministry of Justice, and his attendants went to the Gong family.
When Meng Yunzheng saw the person coming, he already had an idea. He said to Shu Yu, "Don't go back to the inn for now. The capital is restless these days, so you should stay at Minister Jing's house."
"Okay."
Shu Yu nodded and asked, "When will you take action?"
"After noon the day after tomorrow."
Shu Yu felt a little worried, "Please be careful."
"Don't worry, I'm prepared."
Shu Yu could only nod and leave the Gong family with the attendant.
As they arrived at the gates of the Gong family, they coincidentally ran into the physician who was treating the madam Gong. The physician's expression was not good, indicating that madam Gong's condition was not optimistic.
Indeed, that night, Gong Qiu did not return home.
This made the anxious madam Gong unable to find him for advice.
Not only did he not return that night, but he was also absent the following night.
Madam Gong realized that something might have happened. With such a big incident in the family, and Gong Qiu still not returning, no one from the Ministry of Works came to inquire about it. It was definitely a serious matter.
Madam Gong wanted to go out and inquire, but as soon as she stood up, she felt dizzy and couldn't leave. When the housekeeper found out, he said to her, "Madam, the situation at home is chaotic now, and you must take care of your health. The master's situation, I have already sent someone to inquire outside. If you are worried, how about... sending the young master to inquire about the news?"
madam Gong looked at him coldly, "What? Do you think I'm not capable and want to rely on him? He has only known a few people in the capital, what can he find out?"
The housekeeper hurriedly said he didn't dare, but after leaving madam Gong's courtyard, he went to find Meng Yunzheng.
Upon hearing his intentions, Meng Yunzheng's expression became somewhat strange, "You are right. As the eldest son of the Gong family, since Father has been absent for two days, I should indeed inquire about it. Very well, I'll go near the palace now to take a look."
The housekeeper nodded repeatedly, but as soon as Meng Yunzheng left, he frowned - why did the young master want to go near the palace? Master disappeared after leaving court, so he might not necessarily be inside the palace.
However, Meng Yunzheng moved quickly and soon arrived at the palace gates.
When he reached the palace gates, he looked around, appearing unsure of what to do.
However, there were many people watching outside the palace, including those belonging to the Third Prince's faction.
As soon as they saw Meng Yunzheng, they approached to inquire.
Meng Yunzheng stuttered and only said he wanted to see the emperor.
The Third Prince's people thought he was here to rescue Gong Qiu.
