Shu Yu took advantage of the situation, "Next time, you should change it."
"Alright." He reached out and held her hand, smiling warmly in response.
With his sweet voice, handsome appearance, and tender gaze, Shu Yu found it hard to resist him.
However, Zhao Xi couldn't bear it any longer. He turned away and retched, "Can you two find another time and place to exchange your feelings? Ah Yun, you're still acting so affectionate toward her while dressed as a man. It's really eye-catching, and it's making me nauseous."
Meng Yunzheng and Shu Yu, "... Can we kick him out?"
Shu Yu couldn't help but look down at herself and touch her own face, trying to imagine the scene. Indeed, it was a bit uncomfortable.
Just then, footsteps sounded outside, and the three of them immediately stopped talking. Shu Yu withdrew her hand and took a step back.
In the next moment, there was a knock on the door.
"Master, I heard you've returned," a voice came from outside.
Meng Yunzheng said silently, "It's the Gong family's steward."
Zhao Xi went to open the door, and he indeed saw the steward standing there, bowing slightly. There were several other servants behind him.
The steward hurried over to pay his respects, his eyes slightly moist, "Young Master, you've returned, and this old servant knew you were innocent. But I never expected the culprit to be Miss. Sigh, Madam is deeply distressed now, lying sick in bed. As for the family affairs, only Young Master can decide."
Meng Yunzheng waved his hand, "I really don't understand the matters in the mansion. Please handle everything, steward. I've had a tough time in the prison Court these past few days, and I'm exhausted. I want to rest for a while. As for the arrangements for my second brother's funeral, let's wait until Father returns."
"Yes, yes, yes. Young Master, please rest. You've suffered. This old servant will arrange for the servants to attend to you," the steward said and arranged for the servants behind him, "This is for Young Master, and this... gentleman..."
He looked at Shu Yu, unsure how to address her.
However, Meng Yunzheng didn't introduce her, simply saying, "he is Minister Jing's attendant, who escorted me back."
Shu Yu took the opportunity to lower her voice and speak, "As per Minister Jing's orders, I am here to inform Madam of the details of the case when she returns."
"I see," the steward nodded, "I'll leave it to you then. This old servant will have tea and snacks prepared."
After saying that, he instructed the servants behind him to prepare the refreshments.
However, as soon as the refreshments were prepared, Meng Yunzheng asked everyone to leave.
The steward wanted to say something, but considering the current situation of the Gong family, Young Master Gong had already become the sole heir of the family, and no one dared to defy his orders.
Therefore, the steward didn't question further and led the servants out.
Once he left, Zhao Xi couldn't help but curse, "Old bastard."
He turned to Shu Yu, "He's not a good person. He used to support Madam Gong in her wrongdoing, but now that he knows she's unreliable, he immediately changes sides and comes here."
Shu Yu didn't care about the steward's intentions. After all, after today, Gong Qiu was probably finished. By then, not to mention the steward, even the future of the entire Gong family would be uncertain.
She sat across from Meng Yunzheng, "What do we do next?"
"We wait."
"Wait for what?"
Meng Yunzheng smiled, "Wait for Minister Jing's people to fetch you."
Shu Yu felt he was being mysterious, but at the moment, Minister Jing was indeed on his way to the palace with the case files regarding the Gong family.
