Gong Ya planned to strike at the root and directly kill Gong Chang. If Gong Chang died, Madam Gong would have no way to form a marriage alliance with Duke Liu's residence, and her deal with Dong Shi would also fall through. She wouldn't need to be married off to that disgusting man.
Furthermore, now that Meng Yunzheng had returned, she could frame Gong Chang's death on him. Madam Gong would surely not let him off the hook.
This plan would kill two birds with one stone. Both young masters of the Gong family would be gone, leaving her as the only young miss of the Gong family. Even if her father continued to ignore her, he would definitely show more concern for her now. When the time came, her marriage would definitely not be taken lightly.
"This Gong Ya... she's so young yet so ruthless," Shu Yu couldn't help but sigh. If this plan was executed properly, it would indeed be a permanent solution.
Meng Yunzheng smiled, "Indeed, everyone in the Gong family is cunning and scheming."
Including himself.
Shu Yu couldn't help but reach out and hold his hand. "What happened next?"
Meng Yunzheng shook his head, "After that, she succeeded. I returned to the Gong family, not only alive but also able to speak. This was too much of a shock for Madam Gong and her son, creating chaos and providing Gong Ya with an opportunity."
With Gong Chang dead, not only Madam Gong but even Gong Qiu's first suspect was Meng Yunzheng.
However, Gong Qiu reacted quickly. If one son died, the other son, even if he was the murderer, couldn't be harmed. Moreover, there was no evidence to prove that he killed Gong Chang.
However, he underestimated Madam Gong grief over the loss of her son. When Gong Chang died, all her hopes and aspirations were gone. She wished to take the entire Gong family down with her; she no longer cared about the family's face and future.
Madam Gong made a big fuss about the matter, and they found poison in Meng Yunzheng's room. With Zhao Xi's status as a doctor, Meng Yunzheng became the prime suspect and was taken away by the authorities.
Shu Yu frowned, "So, Zhao Xi is also in the prison?"
Meng Yunzheng nodded, "Actually, at this time, it's safer inside the prison than outside."
Shu Yu understood what he meant and lowered her voice, asking, "So, did you deliberately fall into Gong Ya's trap because... the situation outside is about to become chaotic, and the Fifth Prince is planning to take action?"
Meng Yunzheng smiled and nodded slightly, "Gong Chang died, Madam Gong went mad at home, and I, as the murderer, am in prison. The entire Gong family is in chaos. Even someone as cunning as Gong Qiu can't help but panic. Once he panics, he will show weaknesses."
Shu Yu's eyes lit up and she continued, "Then their illicit relationship will likely be exposed."
She understood; this was the reason why Meng Yunzheng fell into the trap.
If the murderer was caught on the spot, Gong Qiu might be furious for a while, but he could quickly suppress the situation, and the Gong family wouldn't be in turmoil.
Now, however, with Meng Yunzheng locked up in the prison, Madam Gong wanted to solidify his guilt with evidence.
Gong Qiu's attempts to control the situation would be in vain.
Shu Yu understood his plan and nodded slightly, "When can you get out?" Even though she knew that Lord Jing was there, Meng Yunzheng wouldn't suffer too much, but she couldn't help but worry about any unforeseen circumstances.
Meng Yunzheng thought for a moment, "I've been here for three days, so probably... in the next day or two, it should be time."
Just as he finished speaking, there was a knock on the door from outside.
