The marriage proposal went smoothly, and the engagement was officially confirmed. The next steps would be the betrothal gifts, name inquiry, selection of an auspicious date, engagement ceremony, and finally the wedding.
After busy preparations, ten days had passed.
The agreed-upon wedding date was set for the end of the year.
During the marriage proposal, Doctor Zhao wasn't present, but he couldn't miss the wedding. If it weren't for waiting for his master to arrive, Zhao Xi would have been eager to get married next month.
He had already written a letter back home and given grandmaster Zhao ample time to make his way back.
With the marriage set, Zhao Xi breathed a sigh of relief.
Next, the renovations of the mansion on Fenghuai Street were completed. Lu Erbai picked a date, and two days later was the auspicious time for moving in.
When Shu Yu heard about this date, she was initially stunned. "Isn't this time too rushed?"
"It's fine, it's fine," Lu Erbai said. "I consulted with someone, and within the next month or so, that day is the best."
In a few more days, it would be Shu Yu's coming-of-age ceremony. Such an important day couldn't be spent in a rented courtyard.
Shu Yu didn't say much after hearing that.
Honestly, she also wanted to move into the mansion on Fenghuai Street as soon as possible.
The house was completed yesterday, and the workers had already been paid and gone home.
The furniture in the house was fully equipped, and after cleaning up in the next two days, they could move in without any problems.
There weren't any issues these days. Since the date had been chosen, it was time to move.
But before moving, they had to return to Shishi Village.
The ancestral graves of the Lu family had been restored, and they should pay their respects.
The next day, the whole family bought offerings and went to borrow a carriage from Meng Yunzheng. With the entire extended family, they headed straight to Shishi Village.
At the same time, Da Niu and Zhou Qiao set off from the estate.
Lu Dasong was already waiting at home. After the family entered the house and had a few sips of tea, they didn't delay any longer and headed straight up the mountain.
The road up the mountain had been smoothed out a lot, and steps were specially built. Even the old lady walked much more steadily.
Lu Dasong led the way and said as he walked, "When Shu Yu told me to repair this road, I didn't think it was necessary. Now that it's done, I realize how convenient it is. Everyone from the village now uses this road to climb the mountain, and even the village chief came over to thank me... We're almost there, Mother, take your time."
The old lady stood on the steps at the top of the mountain, looking at the completely different ancestral graves in front of her, and her fingers trembled slightly.
She glanced back, found her old man's grave mound, and couldn't help wiping away her tears.
Good, very good. Although the old man didn't enjoy a comfortable life and couldn't live in a big house while he was alive, at least his grave had been properly restored.
She slowly exhaled and took out the offerings and paper money.
This time, the Lu family didn't stay on the mountain for long. After burning the paper money, they returned home.
Li Shi and the other daughter-in-laws in the house had already prepared lunch and were waiting for the whole family to return.
Li Shi finally saw Da Niu. That stinky brat sneaked off to the estate without a word, and she hadn't even had a chance to settle the score with him. Finally, she saw him today.
However, there were too many people, and Da Niu had been talking with Shu Yu all along, seemingly discussing matters about the estate. Li Shi didn't want to interrupt and bring them over.
