Li Shi didn't want to go, but Liang Shi wouldn't allow her to be lazy. Without a second word, she dragged Li Shi into the kitchen.
Li Shi was angry, but she had no choice but to help with the cooking. She felt disgusted inside.
But she couldn't hold back her curiosity about the house for long. She opened her mouth and asked, "Third sister-in-law, did you really buy the house? Where did you buy it? How much did it cost?"
Liang Shi knew she couldn't resist asking and proudly shook her head, feeling extremely smug. With one hand covering the pot, she placed her other hand on her waist and said, "Yes, I bought it. It's so big, with nearly twenty rooms in total. It's even bigger than our families in Shishi Village combined. Oh, that house, I fell in love with it at first sight."
She gestured a few times and continued, "I've already planned it out. We, as the main couple, will live in the main room. The left-wing room will be for Da Bao. When he gets married, it'll be spacious enough for him and his wife. The right-wing room will be for Bao Ya as her boudoir. Even if she gets married, I'll keep it for her, so she can come back home anytime."
"By the way, we also have a few back rooms that are currently vacant. But in the future, we can hire two servants to help with cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the house. That way, I won't be so tired."
"Ah, just thinking about it makes life beautiful. With such a big house, I have something to look forward to."
Liang Shi sneaked a glance at Li Shi and saw the bulging veins on her hand holding the stirring stick. It seemed like she was very angry. This made her even more pleased.
"Oh, you asked how much I spent? It's not much, just 255 taels."
Li Shi suddenly raised her head. "How much?"
"255 taels," Liang Shi said with an expression of disbelief, as if Li Shi had never seen the world. "Originally, they asked for 280 taels, but I thought, I really like that house, so let it be 280 taels. What's a few tens of taels to us? But Ah Yu helped me negotiate the price."
Li Shi couldn't help but laugh. How could this person be so shameless?
When did she become so generous, not even caring about a couple hundred taels of silver?
Wait, the third couple didn't do any business or find any treasures, so where did they get so much silver?
Li Shi narrowed her eyes and put down the stirring stick. "Third sister-in-law, did you borrow the money from the second branch?"
"Well, yes. Ah Yu said buying a house is a very clever choice for us. Besides, our family can earn money, so Ah Yu isn't worried about paying it back. Sister-in-law, you're different. You and Big Brother are just relying on that small plot of land. Even after twenty or thirty years, you won't be able to save up that much money, right? Don't even think about borrowing from Ah Yu. It would only embarrass her."
"You..." Li Shi picked up the stirring stick again. She wanted to throw it at Liang Shi and give up on her, but she resisted.
Liang Shi snorted. Previously, it was her and her husband who didn't do any work, and it was always this sister-in-law who condescended and lectured them. Now it was her turn. How refreshing!
However, soon Li Shi suddenly laughed. "Who said we can't save up that much money? I may not be able to, but I have two sons, especially Da Niu. He's capable now. Didn't Ah Yu buy hundreds of mu of land and an estate? All that land is managed by Da Niu and his wife. He's already halfway to becoming a landlord."
The hand that Liang Shi lifted to remove the pot lid suddenly stopped. "What did you say? Da Niu is managing the estate that Ah Yu bought?"
Li Shi chuckled. "Oh, you didn't know?"
