The old lady was feeling quite pleased now. She had spent a lot of time with Ah Ning, who would blabber on incessantly like a little chatterbox, telling her many things every day.
The old lady found it annoying, but after hearing so much, she had started to take it to heart.
She understood some basic medical principles and had begun to focus on health under Hua Xian's care.
She sneered at Li Shi's behavior of pretending to know everything despite being illiterate.
Lan Hua and Er Niu nodded in agreement. Although they didn't say anything, they also knew that their mother's actions were not appropriate.
After criticizing Li Shi, the old lady asked them, "Why did you both come to the county town?"
Er Niu grinned, showing his teeth. "I came to find Da Hu and ask about my studies."
Er Niu's previous private tutor had regretted it and wanted him to go back to studying. However, it wasn't as simple as them changing their minds. If Er Niu wanted to study again, he would have to find another tutor. There was no going back.
When Da Hu returned to Shishi Village and played with Er Niu, he heard about it and said that he would ask Master Wen about it when he went back. If it was possible, they might become classmates.
When Shu Yu brought this news back to Er Niu, it was during a busy farming season, and there were several farm children in Master Wen's school who naturally took leave during this time.
The school had been closed for a whole month, and Da Hu had gone to the southwest, using the excuse of falling behind in his studies to seek guidance from Master Wen, which was why he went to his house every day.
But not only did his studies progress rapidly, he also had his own study methods, which pleasantly surprised Master Wen. Now, Master Wen had already set new study topics for him.
Er Niu had come today to ask about Da Hu's enrollment, what preparations he needed to make, when to meet Master Wen, and when the classes would start.
After listening, the old lady became happy. "Then you'll have to wait a little longer. He'll only be back after noon."
Er Niu waved his hand. "No problem, I'll hang around nearby."
"Don't go too far. If there's anything, come back quickly."
After seeing him run out, the old lady shook her head. Then she asked Lan Hua, "And what about you?"
"I missed you all, and since Dad had to come to the county town for some business, I came along to see you all."
She had stayed at her older sister Cui Hua's house for a couple of days because of the harassment from her former fiancé. But Cui Hua's in-laws had too many people, and they were all squeezed together in a small courtyard, making it impossible to live comfortably.
Fortunately, after Ah Yu went back to Shishi Village, the Ge family didn't dare to come to her doorstep anymore, so she went back home.
But even at home, there was no peace. This period of time was clearly the busy farming season, yet there were still many matchmakers coming to her door. It was truly bothersome.
She just wanted to come out and get some fresh air, to adjust her mood.
After speaking, Lan Hua looked up at Shu Yu, who was checking the account books. She thought about how Shu Yu was a few months older than herself and couldn't help but ask curiously, "And you? Have you also had many matchmakers coming to you?"
Shu Yu looked up and said, "Huh? I haven't encountered any matchmakers."
That wasn't right. She had met someone who liked to play matchmaker, Ding Yuehua.
Lan Hua widened her eyes. "Really?"
She then looked at the old lady and asked, "Grandma, has no one tried to arrange a marriage for Sister Yu?"
"There have been, but your sister Yu is very busy. She's always out and about, so of course she doesn't see any matchmakers."
Now Shu Yu was curious. "Grandmother, who has such audacity?"
