After the separation, under Ding Yuehua's urging, Mei Shi gave them eleven thousand one hundred taels.
As for the remaining half, Mei Shi refused to give it up. She argued that it wasn't solely her responsibility; the Third Family didn't manage the kilns well, and Third Young Master Fans subordinates were also reckless. They should share half of the responsibility.
Third Young Master Fan couldn't be bothered to argue with her. The separation was already done, and their objective was achieved. Continuing to bicker would only lead to unnecessary complications.
But an additional eleven thousand one hundred taels was still a significant income, wasn't it?
As for the drawings, Third Young Master Fan indeed used his memory to recreate the shape of the toilet bowl.
Today, Ding Yuehua came over to show Shu Yu the drawings. At the moment, they were in the hands of Lu Erbai. If there were any mistakes, they could make the necessary adjustments and start working on it.
Third Young Master Fan personally supervised this time, ensuring that the drawings wouldn't be destroyed again.
Thus, the matter of the drawings came to an end, and Shu Yu didn't suffer any losses apart from receiving the goods a few days late.
Therefore, she felt a bit guilty about accepting the horses.
But Ding Yuehua didn't care. "The matter is settled. Don't argue with me. I'm busy right now."
"What are you busy with?"
"Buying a house," Ding Yuehua said. "Since we separated, we naturally have to move out of that house. So I'm looking for a suitable house on Fenghuai Street, so that it's close to you."
"But don't you want to be closer to your parents' house?"
Ding Yuehua smirked. "If I'm too close to my parents' house, I'm afraid my husband won't feel comfortable. Fenghuai Street isn't far from the Ding family either. I want to be able to return home whenever I want. But there's one thing I'm unsure about."
Shu Yu was curious but saw that Ding Yuehua looked tired, so she entered a room and sat down to rest for a while.
Ding Yuehua said, "As you know, Fan Family's grandmother, our grandmother, lives on the estate."
Shu Yu nodded. Hua Xian used to serve her.
"Our grandmother found out that we separated and wants to come back and live with us. She's getting old and wants to enjoy the company of her family. I don't have the heart to refuse her because she previously lived separately due to her conflicts with my mother-in-law. But I don't really want another person in our house."
She was quite torn.
However, Shu Yu's expression gradually grew cold.
Seeing this, Ding Yuehua immediately became uneasy. "I'm not being unfilial; it's just..."
She knew that Ah Yu's family had a good atmosphere, and Ah Yu and her grandmother were very close. It seemed that Ah Yu wouldn't agree with her thoughts.
But Shu Yu held her hand and whispered, "Do you want to hear my opinion? In that case, I think it's better to let Fan Family's grandmother continue living on the estate."
"Huh? Why?" Ding Yuehua raised her head in surprise.
Shu Yu remained silent for a moment before slowly saying, "Originally, I hesitated about whether to tell you this. I didn't expect your grandmother to show interest in joining your household so quickly. Yuehua, Hua Xian used to serve Fan Family's grandmother, right?"
"Yes."
"During these days, Hua Xian has been by my grandmother's side. My grandmother has spent a lot of time with her and unintentionally discovered that she has numerous old wounds and scars—marks from being pinched, beaten, and burned."
"What?!" Ding Yuehua stood up abruptly, her face filled with disbelief.
Shu Yu nodded solemnly. "You said she used to serve Fan Family's grandmother closely. Who would dare to leave these wounds on her? Even if someone did bully her, Fan Family's grandmother couldn't have been unaware of it after so many years, right?"
