Ding Yuehua nodded eagerly, "Let's go, let's go! We need to find Master Lu and make sure he has some time. But let's agree on a good price first; I'm really short on money right now."
She was truly excited and couldn't wait to see the house's layout and interior design. Although the house had been renovated a few days ago, Ding Yuehua had only been able to take a glimpse today.
Once she saw it, she fell in love with it, especially the thatched restroom next to the room. It was clean, convenient, and without any smell. How could Shu Yu come up with such a good idea?
As Shu Yu was being dragged away, she helplessly said, "What's the rush? We can talk about it later."
"You don't know, your father is in high demand now. I've seen many people who visited the restroom said they wanted to talk to your father." Ding Yuehua glanced at Kong Zhiyou beside her. "Isn't that right, Zhiyou? You heard it too."
Kong Zhiyou smiled and nodded, but her expression seemed somewhat forced.
Earlier, she had indeed gone with Ding Yuehua to visit the grand mansion, but as she continued the tour, she lost interest.
She had thought that the guests invited to the coming-of-age ceremony of the village Lord Lu would have some status and knowledge of proper etiquette.
However, the guests she encountered were all villagers.
Not one of them had any manners; they didn't sit properly, stand properly, or keep their voices down. Some were even arguing, making her ears ring. It was even more chaotic than a marketplace.
Their attire was also shabby, with several patches on their clothes.
Especially during the visit to the restroom, she was equally amazed by its design, but the villagers were simply too exaggerated. They turned every nook and cranny and even reached out to touch things, including... the squatting pit.
Even if the pit was never used by the guests, there was no need to do that, right?
What shocked her even more was that one guest, after being stopped from using the pit, actually said they wanted to try it out.
The thought of that scene made Kong Zhiyou's scalp tingle, and she just wanted to leave as soon as possible.
Why didn't Lu Xiangjun care about his reputation? On such a special day, she should have invited prominent and respectable figures from the county town to build connections and strengthen her reputation. Instead, she invited all sorts of relatives and neighbors.
She really couldn't understand her thinking.
Taking a deep breath, Kong Zhiyou lost all interest in staying for lunch and only wanted to say goodbye to Shu Yu and leave.
However, Shu Yu was eventually not dragged away by Ding Yuehua. With so many guests arriving now, Deng Shi, master Jiang Yi come along with Doctor Xu and others, all coming over to greet her one by one.
Ding Yuehua was helpless she couldn't keep chatting with Shu Yu here. She took Kong Zhiyou and went to explore the house on her own.
This time, Kong Zhiyou didn't mention leaving. Among the later guests, there were indeed some prominent figures from Jiangyuan County.
However, she found it strange that County magistrate Xiang, who was supposed to have a good relationship with Lu Xiangjun, didn't seem to have any intention of coming.
She took the opportunity to ask Ding Yuehua, "Yuehua, on such an important day for village lord, do you think County magistrate Xiang will come?"
"He should, right? Even if he doesn't come, he will definitely send someone to deliver gifts."
"But it's almost time for the banquet, and we haven't seen anyone from the yamen. Did something happen?"
Ding Yuehua gave her a doubtful look, "What could happen?"
As soon as she finished speaking, someone suddenly exclaimed, "A luxurious and elegant carriage has arrived outside. I wonder who the distinguished guest is!"
