With that in mind, Shu Yu bid farewell and left. Meng Yunzheng wanted to stop her, but he could only watch as she hurriedly left.
Shu Yu returned to her own house and found Da Niu and Lu Sanzhu still there. She took a sip of water and asked Da Niu, "You said that the batch of sunflowers you planted earlier is ready for harvesting, right?"
"It's almost time. I was planning to start harvesting them once we found the estate."
Shu Yu nodded. "Let's go now."
"Alright."
Although Da Niu didn't know what had happened, he could tell that A Yu suddenly seemed anxious.
He quickly informed the old lady and hurriedly left.
Shu Yu also dragged the reluctant Lu Sanzhu along. "Since you're not going back to work today, you might as well come and help."
Lu Sanzhu wore a bitter expression as he was dragged along by Shu Yu.
They went to the clothing store on Ning Shui Street, and the batch of sunflowers planted by Da Niu was in the backyard of the store.
In fact, the backyard was already quite small. Da Niu originally planned to cultivate half an acre of land in Shishi Village. However, as he had to manage the store and couldn't go back frequently, he could only plant the sunflowers in the backyard.
As a result, there was almost no space left in the backyard, and as soon as they opened the door, they were greeted by a large flower bed hanging down in front of them.
But because they were grown nearby, Da Niu had the time and energy to carefully take care of them. The sunflowers he planted had grown safely and healthily.
Sunflowers generally have a growth cycle of about a hundred days, but due to the unfavorable weather at the time of planting, they grew slowly in the early stages. That's why they were only ready for harvest now.
As soon as Shu Yu and the others arrived at the store, they headed straight to the backyard.
As soon as they opened the door, Lu Sanzhu exclaimed in surprise, "Wow, it's so tall!"
It was much taller than him.
"It looks all dried up. A Yu, didn't you say these flowers are beautiful? Who would come to see them like this?"
Da Niu explained, "Uncle San, this is because the sunflowers are ripe. When they first bloom, they are bright yellow and very beautiful. If you look at the whole field, it's truly stunning."
"Then why didn't you call me over to see them?"
Da Niu replied awkwardly, "..."
Shu Yu interjected, "Alright, stop talking and cut the flower bed first."
She looked up, touched the hanging flower bed, and couldn't help but smile with satisfaction.
Sunflower seeds—looking at the almost broken stems of the hanging flower bed, it was clear that the seeds were plump.
Shu Yu plucked one out and opened it, feeling even more satisfied.
Seeing this, Lu Sanzhu quickly plucked one and immediately stuffed the flesh into his mouth.
"Mm... It tastes alright, but it doesn't have much flavor."
Shu Yu turned her head and glared at him. "No stealing."
Lu Sanzhu whispered, "Fine, I won't eat. I don't even like them."
"That's because they haven't been roasted yet. Later, I'll make five-spice sunflower seeds, walnut sunflower seeds, cream sunflower seeds, caramel sunflower seeds, so don't eat them."
"I won't. I'm helping with the work." Lu Sanzhu couldn't help but swallow and quickly took the sickle to cut the flower bed.
After cutting a few, he paused for a moment. "Why are there a few plants here that are unusually short? Are they not growing well?"
Shu Yu followed his finger's direction and her eyes lit up. She walked over to the few sunflowers and said, "No, these few are actually something good."
