Zhao Xi carried the child into the house, and Ah Ning quickly followed.
Only Meng Yunzheng and Shu Yu were left in the courtyard. They watched as Da Niu and the others led the cart away. Curious, Meng Yunzheng asked, "What happened?"
"I went to buy an estate yesterday, but something happened..." Shu Yu recounted what had happened at the estate and also mentioned Hu Li's plan to investigate the black market.
Finally, unable to contain her curiosity, she asked him, "Do you know about this? "
Meng Yunzheng nodded. "Xiang Weinan mentioned it to me." He had deliberately observed the area around that forest.
Shu Yu wanted to ask him what he thought, especially about the person who sold the mirror.
But before she could ask, Meng Yunzheng lowered his voice and said, "The Third Prince should be taking action."
Shu Yu was puzzled. "Huh?"
"Forgot?" Meng Yunzheng smiled and looked at her. "As you said, the Third Prince 'discovered' the Second Prince's true identity. That mirror that can reflect a person's good and evil is most likely the Third Prince's doing. He's just taking advantage of the situation."
Oh, right. The Second Prince was the son of Gong Qiu and the favored concubine. But she hadn't expected that this conflict wouldn't just stay in the capital but would spread to Jiangyuan County.
Shu Yu sighed, and Meng Yunzheng thought she was worried. "Are you still planning to buy that estate?"
Shu Yu nodded, and Meng Yunzheng laughed. "Don't worry. Although the estate is close to the black market, that incident happened several months ago, and those who came to Jiangyuan County have already returned to the capital. Hu Li and the others are investigating just to see if there are any unexpected gains. This matter won't affect that estate."
"I hope Hu Li and the others find something."
Meng Yunzheng smiled and looked at the person in front of him, hesitating to speak.
Shu Yu's heart skipped a beat. "What's wrong? Is there something you want to tell me?"
"The situation in the capital is tense. When Gong Qiu's deeds are exposed, it will inevitably involve me. When the time comes, I'll have to go to the capital."
He was Gong Qiu's son, and he had a connection with the favored concubine. Once this matter was exposed, it would be impossible for Meng Yunzheng, as Gong Qiu's son, to remain unaffected.
So, before that happened, he had to sever ties with Gong Qiu and the palace.
Shu Yu hurriedly asked, "When will you go? Now?"
"Not yet. I'll wait a little longer." At the very least, he had to wait for her coming-of-age ceremony to be completed.
Shu Yu secretly breathed a sigh of relief. "Is there anything I can do to help?"
"Don't worry, if I need your help, I won't be polite."
Their Ah Yu was intelligent and capable, so Meng Yunzheng naturally wouldn't exclude her.
While they were talking, Ah Ning came running out. "Second Sister, who is that little sister?"
Shu Yu patted her head. "Her name is Xiaoya, and she's one year younger than you. Her grandfather was harmed by someone, and she was injured as well. Now, she has no family or anyone else and is sick. Can you help take care of her?"
The little girl felt uncomfortable hearing this and immediately nodded. "I can. Brother Zhao said she's not in immediate danger, but it's not suitable for her to move. Let her rest here until she recovers."
"Thank you for your help."
"It's no trouble." The little girl ran back inside.
Shu Yu felt relieved after entrusting Xiaoya to Zhao Xi.
However, when she thought about Meng Yunzheng going to the capital soon, she couldn't help but worry again.
No, she had to finish her current tasks quickly. If conditions allowed, she would go together with him.
