Shu Yu looked at the person. He seemed to have introduced himself as He Ping earlier, a brother with a good relationship with her father.
Shu Yu smiled and said, "Uncle He, you're exaggerating. We're not at a loss. Although we provide room and board, you don't have to go back early, so the working hours will definitely be extended. Moreover, the mansion we're renovating is more delicate than ordinary houses, so it's inevitable that it will be hard work. This treatment is reasonable."
Upon hearing this, everyone looked at each other, still feeling that it was convenient for them.
Fan Zhongzheng, who was on the side, made the final decision, "Alright, stop dilly-dallying. Just remember that village lord Lu is taking care of you, and it's better to help out than anything else when there's something to be done in the future."
His own son was also in the work team, how could he lower the wages? That would be foolish.
Shu Yu glanced at him calmly and then turned to explain the situation of the house to the crowd, such as the fact that there were also some people hired from the county, who would be responsible for meals, and the accommodation arrangements.
After finishing, they could disperse, "That's settled then. Uncles and older brothers, go back and pack up your things. It will probably take about a month to renovate the house, so you won't be able to return in the short term."
"Alright, then we'll go back now and head to the county early tomorrow morning."
One by one, the people started leaving.
Seeing that it was getting late, Fan Zhongzheng invited Shu Yu to have Lunch at his house, "My wife has already prepared the food. Village lord Lu rarely comes back, and you haven't visited my house yet."
Shu Yu looked at the cold stove and pots in the eldest uncle's house. Li Shi was so excited just now that she completely forgot to cook.
Since Fan Zhongzheng had invited her several times, Shu Yu decided to take the opportunity to visit his house.
When they finished lunch and returned, Li Shi's relatives happened to arrive.
Er Niu went to visit Liang's family, so he didn't come back with them.
Shu Yu learned about the situation of Li Shi's family when Li Shi's siblings arrived, and in the end, the eldest son of Li's family was chosen, along with the second son, who would have companions.
Since it was still early, and both brothers had arrived, they decided to help Lu Dasong finish the work in the fields before returning.
Shu Yu couldn't help but say that her grandmother had a good eye. Except for Li Shi, who was a bit strange, everyone else in the Li family was fine.
It's really strange. Both the eldest qnd third uncle wife's siblings are good people, but why is it that only the eldest uncle's wife is the odd one out?
Later in the evening, Er Niu returned, accompanied by Liang Shi's sister.
Liang's family decided to send one person, but whether it was him or Li's siblings, they all said they didn't want wages.
Shu Yu definitely wouldn't agree. Don't they need to make a living too? Besides, whether it was the eldest uncle's wife or the third aunt, they wouldn't be pleased if they found out about this.
With the hiring settled, Shu Yu also learned about the restoration of the ancestral tomb.
Lu Dasong said they had already chosen a date, but it was scheduled for a month later when the farming tasks weren't as urgent. The villagers could spare a couple of days, and it would be finished quickly.
Shu Yu nodded and left some money for Lu Dasong restoration work.
As soon as Li saw the money, her eyes lit up.
However, Lu Dasong solemnly said to Shu Yu, "Rest assured, this is the money for restoring the ancestral tomb. Uncle will not use it recklessly. I will record every expenditure, and if there's any excess, I will return it to you."
Shu Yu just smiled and said, "Thank you, Uncle, for your hard work."
After that, she left Shishi Village with Ying Xi. Little did they know that just as they left the village entrance, someone blocked their way.
