Li Shi had two older brothers, each with two sons, and they were both older than Da Niu.
With Li Shi's father included, there were a total of seven men in their family. And with their young and strong wives, it would be easy to manage a dozen acres of land.
They could definitely spare a couple of laborers.
Shu Yu had no objections to bringing in more people as long as they were hardworking and easy to get along with.
She nodded. "That's fine, but I need to ask them first."
Just as they were talking, they heard footsteps outside. Lu Dasong entered with Er Niu.
Before they even stepped inside, Li Shi directed Er Niu, "Hurry, go to Li family village and find your uncle. Tell him that your sister Ah Yu needs people to help with the construction of the mansion in the county town. There's good pay. Go quickly."
Er Niu was still a bit stunned, but Li Shi pushed him out of the door.
However, he quickly understood the situation. On the way back with his father, they heard many people discussing this matter. He knew that Sister Ah Yu had returned to recruit people.
He immediately turned around and ran, quickly heading to Li family village.
Li family village was quite far from Shishi Village. How could he run there without exhausting himself? Moreover, Er Niu had just come back from working in the fields and hadn't even had a sip of water. How could an eleven-year-old child endure this?
Shu Yu immediately turned to Ying Xi and said, "Drive him there and have Er Niu take you to my third Aunt's maiden family to ask them as well."
She remembered that third Aunt's maiden family had many relatives. If she recruited Li Shi's relatives now and Liang Shi found out later, there would definitely be trouble.
It would be better to settle it all at once.
Besides, third Aunt's relatives were quite agreeable and easy to deal with.
In that case, except for her own uncle, there wouldn't be any good-for-nothings among her relatives.
Ying Xi nodded and went out to accompany Er Niu. Li Shi smiled so much that her eyes narrowed.
After closing the courtyard gate, Shu Yu turned to Lu Dasong and said, "Uncle."
"Ah Yu, you're here." Lu Dasong stood at the door and dusted off his clothes.
Fan Zhongzheng asked him, "Dasong, why did you come back so late? Village lord Lu has been waiting for you."
Lu Dasong chuckled, "After finishing the work in the fields with Er Niu, we went up the mountain. When the villagers came looking for us, we hadn't heard the news of your return yet."
He scooped up a ladle of water from the side, took a few sips, and felt refreshed before saying, "I heard them say that you came to recruit people. Are we going to start the construction of the mansion in the county town?"
"Yes, my father has already prepared the blueprints."
Lu Dasong nodded. "I'll have Da Niu help you with the work." He couldn't go himself. There were only him and his wife at home now. During the busy farming season, they had to take care of several acres of land, and even Er Niu and Lan Hua had to be called to help.
Moreover, they also had to prepare for the repairs of their ancestral grave on the mountain.
Shu Yu didn't refuse either. Da Niu had been helping her look for a shop these past few days, but she didn't know how the situation was going now.
On the other hand, Li Shi turned her eyes and asked Shu Yu, "Ah Yu, if you're hiring so many people for work, you'll need someone to cook and prepare meals. Since your family members are all busy, why don't you let Aunt handle it?"
Shu Yu shook her head. "There's no need. I bought more than ten servants and a chef and a cook from the servants market yesterday. It's already enough."
Li Shi: "..." Ten, more than ten servants??
Fan Zhongzheng was also shocked. My goodness, so many people?
Being a village lord was truly different. It required a large investment, and who knows how much silver it would cost.
