Ying Dong sat on the front of the carriage, while Ying Xi, feeling a bit constrained, sat quietly inside, maintaining an attitude of listening more and speaking less.
Shu Yu quickly went to the shop and ordered a lot of things to be delivered directly to their home.
Now that the weather had become very warm, there was no need for thick bedding. As for the pots, bowls, and utensils, aside from the new servants who would need them, the renovation workers would also need to be prepared.
In addition to that, there was also rice, flour, and cooking oil, so she took the opportunity to prepare them in advance.
By the time everything was bought, it was already past noon. Shu Yu took a deep breath and, accompanied by Ying Dong and Ying Xi, went to a restaurant with Ding Yuehua and had a meal before slowly heading towards Fenghuai Street in a horse-drawn carriage.
The doors of the mansion were open, and Shu Yu pushed the door and entered, seeing the Lin family of four who were currently cleaning.
Upon seeing Shu Yu return, the four of them paused for a moment before hurrying to bow.
Shu Yu waved her hand and said, "No need for excessive courtesy. Where is my father?"
As soon as her voice fell, the voice of Lu Erbai came from the corridor, "Ah Yu, you're here."
Shu Yu raised her gaze and saw Lu Erbai walking towards her in big strides.
Ding Yuehua, seeing this, said to her, "Ah Yu, you can talk to him first. I haven't seen your big mansion yet, so I'll go in and take a look."
"Go ahead," she replied, allowing Ying Dong and Ying Xi to also take a look around.
Once everyone had left, she asked Lu Erbo, "Father, have they met everyone? Have they had their meal?"
"They've had their meal. The rice, flour, and cooking oil you bought were delivered early, so I had the kitchen tidied up. Since they just arrived, we made a simple noodle dish for them to eat. Right now, everyone is busy tidying things up."
Lu Erbai nodded, then whispered, "But Ah Yu, won't there be too many people? Nineteen of them, even if each of them is followed by two more, there will still be leftovers."
Shu Yu shook her head and said, "Yuehua said it's too few. If it weren't for my strong refusal, she would have brought at least ten more."
Lu Erbai was at a loss for words. The mindset of people from wealthy households was indeed different from his own.
But since the people had already been bought, Lu Erbai didn't say much, "In that case, how about you assign them tasks?"
"For now, let them help out here until the mansion is repaired. By the way, I'll have Ying Xi assist me. The girl who was following me just now, and the other one is her older brother, Ying Dong. Both of them are quite capable. Along the way, I have also gathered some information about them, and they seem to be good people. Ying Dong can read, so if you have anything to discuss, you can find him."
Ying Dong was twenty years old this year, and he probably studied when he was still at the escort agency.
After a pause, she added, "By the way, I'll take Hua Xian to Liufang Lane. She's good at massage, so let her try it on you. Later on, she and Ying Xi can go back to the village to rest together."
The house in Liufang Lane was not enough for them to stay, so they could only accommodate them in the mansion.
Lu Erbai nodded, indicating that he understood.
Just at that moment, the servants who had heard of Shu Yu's return gradually came out, standing respectfully and awkwardly in front of her.
Shu Yu glanced at them, seeing that they were still energetic.
She turned around to face them and said, "Are all the people here?"
"Yes, Honorable Master, everyone is here," they replied.
Shu Yu made a sound of acknowledgment and said, "Since everyone is here, I have a few things to say to you."
Her serious tone made the crowd inexplicably nervous.
