Shu Yu found it strange and whispered to Ding Yue Hua, "Do you know that girl?"
Ding Yuehua gestured to the servants house's staff who was about to introduce her and then pulled Shu Yu to a corner, speaking softly, "That girl was recently sold by the Fan family."
Shu Yu glanced at the girl and asked, "Did she do something wrong?"
Ding Yuehua's expression was a bit awkward as she shook her head slightly. "It wasn't exactly doing something wrong. This girl learned the skill of back massage and meridian clearing from someone before. She had been serving the old madam all along. Previously, the old madam made a foolish decision and didn't like it here, so she went to live in an estate outside the city."
"A foolish decision?" Shu Yu raised an eyebrow.
Ding Yuehua continued, "Last year, when I got married, the old madam came back, and she brought this maid with her. There was a stewardess in the Fan family who took care of this maid and went to my mother-in-law, suggesting that since this girl had reached a marriageable age, they should arrange a marriage for her. My mother-in-law agreed, so she let the maid stay in the Fan family and assigned another maid to follow my grandmother-in-law back to the estate."
Ding Yuehua looked at the maid with a sigh. "But as you can see, this girl is well-behaved and somewhat attractive. My eldest brother-in-law noticed her before my mother-in-law had a chance to find a match for her. This upset my sister-in-law, and she found an opportunity to expose the girl's mistakes and sell her off."
Originally, the Fan family's eldest sister-in-law had wanted to sell her to a brothel. After all, she had the skill of massage, which would be more useful in a brothel. But the stewardess pleaded with the Fan family's main wife, explaining that this girl had served the old madam, so she was spared from the fate of going to the brothel. However, she was still sold to the servants Mar, and her future was uncertain.
After hearing this, Shu Yu fell into deep thought.
Skilled in back massage and meridian clearing...
Lately, she had occasionally noticed her grandmother appearing tired and stiff. If someone knowledgeable could give her a massage, it would surely bring her much comfort.
The old lady had toiled her whole life, and now that the circumstances allowed, she deserved some enjoyment.
Shu Yu inquired, "What's the girl's name? What is her character like?"
Ding Yuehua was surprised. "Do you want her?"
"I'm considering it."
Ding Yuehua pondered for a moment. "I haven't interacted with her much, but she seems honest and diligent." Thinking for a moment, she beckoned Ah Yu to come over and asked her, "What can you tell me about Hua Xian?"
"Hua Xian is a good person, speaks gently, patient, and doesn't try to get close to the master. I accidentally overheard her talking with the stewardess before. She said the eldest young master took an interest in her, but she didn't want to become a concubine and asked the stewardess to help persuade him to give up. Unfortunately, before anything could be done..."
Shu Yu understood. "Then let it be her. After all, she has a specific skill."
If there were no major issues with her character, a person with a skill would always be more valuable.
Shu Yu called for the servants house's staff to bring Hua Xian forward, and they immediately complied.
Shu Yu asked her a few questions and found that she could communicate without any issues and had a gentle attitude. Thus, she made the decision to hire her.
Hua Xian was somewhat surprised and couldn't help but glance at Ding Yuehua.
She had an intuition that the reason she was chosen by the girl in front of her must have something to do with the Third Young Madam.
