The old lady no longer opposed it. Her son was living a good life, owning property in the county, so as a mother, she was naturally happy.
After relaying the message, Lu Erbai was about to leave, but San Ya grabbed his arm. "Dad, we're going to change our names."
Lu Erbai was confused. "Change names? What names?"
Shu Yu told them about Meng Yun Zheng's suggestion, and Lu Erbai pondered over it. The old lady had actually thought it was time to change their names long ago.
"Da Hu is now a scholar, and scholars should have names befitting scholars." Just like Tang Xiucai in the village, no, Tang Ju Ren, a name that sounds good and is easy to remember.
Lu Erbai had no objections, but as a rough man who hadn't received an education, he was at a loss when it came to choosing a name.
He scratched his head and lowered his voice to San Ya. "San Ya, Dad has some things to attend to. How about we wait until I come back tonight when your mother and Da Hu are also home? We can look through books to find a nice-sounding name with a good meaning."
San Ya was curious. "We have to look through books?"
Lu Erbai: "..."
Without looking through books, he could only come up with Da Hu and San Ya.
"San Ya, why don't you think about it during this time?" The old lady suggested.
San Ya's eyes lit up. "Okay, I'll come up with ten or eight names and then pick the best one. I'm sure the ones I come up with will sound really nice."
As she spoke, she excitedly ran into the house to search through books.
Shu Yu shook her head, and at that moment, a knock on the courtyard door could be heard.
Da Ya was closest and hurried over to open the door.
It was Ying Xi, Hua Xian and the coachman who had arrived. Shu Yu had asked them to come, as the coachman was supposed to take Lu Erbai to Shishi Village to recruit workers.
However, before Lu Erbai could leave, Ying Xi spoke up, "Master, many people have come from Fenghuai Street. My brother said they are the workers you negotiated with yesterday. Originally, Zheng Gong was in charge, but the drawings had some problems and needed to be measured again. In addition, the wood has also been delivered, so Zheng Gong is too busy..."
Before Ying Xi could finish his words, Lu Erbai paused. "The workers have come so quickly?"
Last night, he had dinner with the people brought by Yuan Shanchuan. They had also been drinking, and he had expected that they would at least gather the workers this afternoon or tomorrow morning. He didn't expect them to arrive so soon. Their efficiency was remarkable.
If there were problems with the drawings, he definitely needed to go and take a look.
It seemed that he would have to wait until tomorrow to go to Shishi Village.
Shu Yu said, "Dad, you should go to the mansion on Feng Huai Street. I'll go to Shishi Village. Write down the names of the uncles you want to recruit, and I'll find them."
"Do you have time?"
"Yes." Shu Yu smiled. "Actually, I also want to go back to the village to ask Uncle about repairing the ancestral grave."
Lu Erbai thought it over and agreed. "Then wait for me for a moment. I'll write down the names of a few people for you."
Shu Yu was unfamiliar with the villagers of Shishi Village, and their names were all quite similar, so Lu Erbai also wrote down their addresses.
Taking advantage of this moment, Shu Yu introduced Hua Xian to the old lady.
"Grandma, this is Hua Xian, the one I mentioned to you yesterday. She's skilled in massage. She'll stay at home to accompany you these days."
Hua Xian stepped forward and nervously bowed.
When she raised her head, she found that the old lady was even more nervous than she was.
The old lady didn't mean to, but this wasn't the first time she had seen a maid. She just didn't know where to put her hands and feet for a moment.
Shu Yu squeezed her hand and whispered in her ear, "Grandmother, just treat her as a younger generation. If she's easy to get along with, use your kind expression towards her. If she doesn't listen, you can say whatever needs to be said or even scold her. Don't be nervous."
