Shu Yu's actions came to a halt. The matter concerning the shop?
"Master Yu, are you not planning to rent out that shop anymore?" she asked.
Master Yu quickly waved his hand. "No, no, I wanted to give that shop to County Magistrate Lu as a way to apologize for the trouble caused to the Lu family due to my mismanagement of the staff."
Shu Yu raised an eyebrow. "There's no need for that."
She shook her head. "No merit, no reward. There's no need for you to apologize, especially considering that the rent you provided us previously was not high. It was already a favor to us."
If Master Yu had been so generous last year, she wouldn't have refused. She could have flattered him endlessly.
But now, if news got out that she, as a recently appointed village loard, received a shop just two days after taking office, it would be seen as bribery.
Furthermore, she didn't need the money right now. She wasn't that shallow.
Master Yu looked troubled. "Actually, village lord, that shop brings back some unpleasant memories for me. I saw that your ready-made clothing shop is doing well, and I have visited that shop. It has been beautifully renovated. If..."
Shu Yu interrupted him. "In that case, I will buy it." She continued, "If Master Yu intends to sell, then I will buy the shop. Otherwise, let's forget about it."
Master Yu sighed in relief. This girl wasn't the type to become arrogant as soon as she gained power. This actually put his mind at ease.
"Alright, let's sell it then."
Shu Yu smiled, and the two of them began discussing the details of the sale.
Master Yu still tried to negotiate the price, but Shu Yu insisted on paying the market price.
The shops in Ningshui Street were not cheap. It was the most prosperous area in the entire Jiangyuan County.
However, Yiren Pavilion was located at the end of the street, and the shop itself wasn't very large, so the price wasn't too high.
Based on the local property prices, Shu Yu eventually bought the shop for five hundred taels of silver.
Master Yu sighed as he held the silver ticket. He hadn't received a single tael less than expected.
He handed the deed to Shu Yu, and both of them went to the yamen to transfer ownership. With that, the first shop of the Lu family was acquired.
Shu Yu held the deed in her hand and bid farewell to Master Yu at the entrance of the yamen.
She looked at the pair of dragon and phoenix twins, who seemed to be quite dependent on Master Yu, obedient and rosy-cheeked.
After saying goodbye to Master Yu, Shu Yu walked slowly back home.
Everyone else had already returned except for Lu Erbai. He had probably gone to the southern part of the city to inquire about hiring laborers.
The old lady told everyone to start eating. "Your father said he won't be coming back for dinner tonight. Let's not wait for him."
It was evident that everyone knew about the shop being bought, and they were all excited.
Shu Yu couldn't help but laugh. She showed them the deed and put it away after everyone was satisfied.
She planned to give this shop to Da Ya. If Da Ya and Zhao Xi really ended up together, this shop would serve as her dowry.
Although it was strange for a younger sister to prepare a dowry for her elder sister, Shu Yu didn't care about such conventions.
