Shu Yu stood at the entrance of her own courtyard, stroking her chin, and the figure inside turned around upon hearing the movement.
Their eyes met, and Shu Yu was taken aback. "Master Yu?"
Why was he in her house?
"Do you recognize me?" Master Yu was also somewhat surprised but quickly realized, "Right, you should recognize me. After all, your brother and sister nearly got into trouble because of the Yu family."
She had gone to Ruanji Village and destroyed half of the Ruan family. The Yu family, who wanted twins, should have heard about it.
Shu Yu forced a dry laugh. No, I recognize you because I swindled 100 taels of silver from you.
She had thought so. This person's back looked like a gullible fool, and it turned out to be true.
She coughed lightly and asked with some astonishment, "Is Master Yu here to find me?"
Master Yu nodded. "Yes, there's something I want to discuss with Lord Lu."
Upon hearing this, Shu Yu walked towards the main hall. "Master Yu, please come in."
But just as she entered, she saw two unfamiliar children playing with Da Hu San Ya inside, while the old lady was sewing doll clothes on the side.
Seeing Shu Yu return, the old lady stood up. "Ah Yu is back. Master Yu said he wanted to talk to you and has been here for a while."
The two unfamiliar children turned their heads when they saw Shu Yu and looked a bit nervous. They instinctively ran behind Master Yu, stealing glances at her.
Master Yu smiled and pushed the two children forward. "This is Lord Lu, show respect."
"Lord Lu, auspicious greetings." The two children obediently saluted in a half-hearted manner.
Shu Yu... she was being greeted like this for the first time.
Shu Yu instinctively took out a few candies from her pouch. "No need to be polite. You can continue playing. I'll talk with Master Yu."
The two children looked at Master Yu, and when he nodded, they followed Da Hu San Ya to play in the courtyard.
The old lady brought a cup of tea for Master Yu and went directly to the kitchen.
Only the two of them were left in the main hall. Shu Yu finally asked, "Who are those two children...?"
"They are my adopted son and daughter."
Adopted son and daughter?
Master Yu smiled. "To be honest, I was deceived by someone in the past, and I was desperate for a child. That person said that as long as I adopted a pair of dragon and phoenix twins, my wish would be fulfilled. I entrusted this matter to the manager below, but I didn't expect that the manager wasn't a good person and resorted to improper means. As a precaution, he chose two pairs of dragon and phoenix twins, and one of them was your brother and sister. It was also because of my lack of strict discipline that this nearly caused a disaster. Here, I apologize to Lord Lu."
Shu Yu smiled. She knew he came to apologize because she had become the village head. He didn't come to apologize earlier because the old Lu family was just a poor peasant family in his eyes, and nothing really happened to the Lu family, so he wouldn't come to apologize.
Moreover, he had already lowered the rent for the shop, which was a gesture of goodwill.
Shu Yu didn't really hold a grudge against him for this matter. The main culprit was old lady Ruan. Seriously speaking, Master Yu was also a victim.
Shu Yu was just curious. "Are the two children outside the door the other pair of dragon and phoenix twins?"
When she eavesdropped on Madame Yu and her lover's conversation, she did hear them mention that the other pair of dragon and phoenix twins were on their way.
But when she pretended to be a fortune-teller and swindled Master Yu, he turned back in time and dealt with Madame Yu and her lover before smashing the Ruan family.
