you can always tell kids...we will look that up when we get home. Research project! Something age appropriate probably exists for most questions they have.

When they’re old enough to ask, they’re old enough to know. Please don’t deflect with ‘I don’t know’. Yes you do. There’s nothing weird about reproduction. Don’t make it weird. The kid needs to feel it’s ok to ask those questions. Watching wildlife documentaries can help.

I learned that if you answer JUST the question (and don't qualify them), kids will be satisfied with the absolute barest bones of answers until they get old enough to be more specific.
