Longtime reader, first-time commenter... I have to admit, if you'd told me back when I first read "Rosemary and Rue" that someday he'd be one of my favorites, I'd have laughed in your face. If, after I'd read "The Brightest Fell," I was informed I'd be eagerly devouring short stories about him and/or August, you'd have gotten an epic eyebrow raise. And yet, here I am. I love and deeply appreciate being able to enjoy more stories and perspectives set in October's world, especially in the cold, dark months between novels, so my eternal thanks to Seanan for this site and how much she continues to give to her fans. Also, am I the only one who's dying to know how/when/why Helmi and August became close enough to share extended hugs? Because I totally am. ;)
Oh my heart! I adore this. I love seeing Simon and August so at home in Saltmist. I love seeing August getting to relax and not have to be perfect. I love seeing Simon feeling okay in his own skin. I love seeing just how much love there is between Simon and Patrick and Dianda. This story was amazing <3
