So, walk up the mountain to develop and sharpen your own grand pattern skill in the first 4 steps. In the 5th step, receive 9 lessons which each teach an additional way to manipulate the grand pattern. Then, in the 10th lesson, throw all of the previous 10 uses of the pattern on it's head and experience a breakthrough. Yeah, sounds like a pretty standard skill development training arc.

He has had a scant few pinnacle skills before. His alternate timelines skill in the grim chimera set for instance. (Or maybe that's his only one before this? Not sure.) I am pretty sure that the stillborn pheonix was a pinnacle skillset too. None of the individual skills in it were pinnacle, but the skillset as a whole was.

We’ll see what they actually mean soon but the right now the names don’t mean much. What matters is the rarities. The higher they get the more affects get added to a single skill.
