Viking Longship - final options being added
🕑 Added 2022-05-13 08:51:48 +0000 UTCLadies and gentlemen,
this week there has been a lot of consolidation, error corrections and bug fixing going on. I was able to add the ornament plank options for the top plank on the outer hull. This could be used to add variety to different ships of a fleet or show which one is the chieftains ship!
I also added all the options for the oar slots. The base is a neutral round hole. Further options include open or closed "covers" so no water can enter during sailing mode. And I also added an alternate option for all of those with the upper bar where I often saw the sailors would attach things onto.
And finally I added a metal bow option. The plank seam patterns just screamed to add this option - for a ramming bow version maybe?
I have also worked on the sails. There will be two main types ... the vertical stripes and a diamond shape pattern. As usual you will be able to configure different colors for each. Here is a little gif animation showing what you can do.
You start with a blank canvas sail. Then you have two sections which you can color separately, leading to either single color patterns or combinations. In the end you can also create a single color sail by activating the same color for both sections!
I still have to add weathering effects and create the parts for the color shields and then go on to make the final build showing all the new options added.
Next week will be a quiet one as I am away for a couple of days on "grand children duty" and then I will jump into the last phase :)
So until next time, have a great weekend, stay safe and keep building!

The metal part is just pure fantasy :) Haven't seen anything like that during research. And, yes, I will make a couple of figurehead options (different dragon heads and tails). I have only seen dragons so far. Regarding the shields I will make one overlap-part with coloured shields and then a page with single shields you can mix and match however you desire!

Wow! The only way the variability could be maximized from here would be optional shield patters. And you once said you're making alternative keels too? Different animals? I didn't know vikings metaled their keels.
