Making Chinese roof tiles
🕑 Added 2019-01-25 09:30:33 +0000 UTCWhen I went to texture the roof, I first tried reusing the old ones I created for the Samurai Castle sets. But for the Chinese houses I wanted a more lighter tone and more variations in the tiles. So I went on to recreate the tile textures form scratch throwing everything I have learnt in the meantime in the mix and ... TADAAAA! ... was able to come up with something that I like so much more, because it looks like what I see in the reference pics.
Here is a comparison between the old and new. I also changed the round caps at the end to a Chinese motive, but it is so small it's not really readable.
So with this done I can start working on the missing interior walls for the room and then I only got weathering and fold-flat missing. It will be a tight race to the end of the month but I think I can make it in time.
Here is another view from the current status.
Tomorrow or the day after I will show you the layout design with the modules planned, so you get a better idea how this one building will fit into the big picture!
Until next time, have fun and keep building!

That's a great idea. I can send you a wide version of the texture. Get well!

Lovely :) I was thinking: I could print it wider than the roof actually is and so I could bend it like an accordion and so giving it extra volume. Something like this: http://file1.seekpart.com/2014/4/17/14/201441714527495803.jpg I am ill today and it seems I have lost any english I ever learnt xD.
