Tutorial 130 - Caricature Action
🕑 Added 2016-05-13 17:26:38 +0000 UTC When creating a caricature of a subject we have the opportunity to include an action or have the character placed in a situation. This should add to the comical feel of the image overall, and breathe a little more life into the portrait.
Referring to my example image, I was lucky enough to snap a photograph of my baby niece eating sand, which I thought was a scene worth sketching. But, we're not always so directly inspired, in which case we can try to put the character in a scene he or she would typically be placed in; Maybe your subject is playing golf, sunbathing, pushing a shopping cart, for example.
These actions aren't so funny alone but if you capture the likeness of your subject and put them where we expect them (or we we least expect them!), you will most likely score a tickle in your audience.
