Geoyanguk - lore
🕑 Added 2023-07-17 15:57:45 +0000 UTCThe following post contains "lore spoilers" so if you're the kind of player who enjoys discovering the lore on the own, you might want to avoid it. No images here (but I did upload some to Discord). Enjoy!
==========================================
An “Asian” fiefdom, but this is the last time I’m going to use the term Asian.
Since the major conflicts of the Second War in Heaven were fought roughly in this area, the Geoyanguk call it “The Land of the Beginning of Time” and consider themselves “pure humans”, with the rest of the humans being half breeds. They take pride in driving the orcs and the elves out of Geoyanguk, obviously feeling superior to them as well. The fiefdoms south of them are referred to as “the impure” or “the defeated“.
Their scarred land still carries remains of the First and Second Wars with Tainted Divine (“broken magic”) sporadically found and corrupting people, plants and animals. This adds elements of physical corruption and insanity to the Geoyanguk nation, although over the generations they improve slowly, perhaps through brutal culling of the weak and unfirm.
Geoyangukan culture is rife with wards, talismans, rituals and general superstition with Scarecrows (better name needed?) to scare kinderfell (Ghosts/demons/etc), Shrieks (Witches) and more.
*Bell Tollers* are shriek hunters, roaming the land and executing the *shrieks* who are suspected of being corrupted by or attempting to use Tainted Divine (rotten magic). Once they get too old to be effective, Bell Tollers are expected to end their own life in a ritual self execution.
