Joe Bob’s Thought of the Day: New York Edition
🕑 Added 2022-12-14 22:14:34 +0000 UTCMost New Yorkers were startled to witness the wild street celebration when Morocco defeated Portugal to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup--because nobody knew there were that many Moroccans living in New York.
The place they celebrated was Steinway Street in Astoria, Queens, the same street where Steinway pianos have been made by hand since 1880 because of the German immigrant Henry Steinway, and the same Steinway Street where Tony Bennett first sang a song because of his Italian immigrant parents, and the same Steinway Street where all the best Greek restaurants are located because they came through as well. So Germans, Italians, Greeks and Moroccans all passed over the same plot of ground on their way to becoming Americans--not to mention Maltese, Lebanese, Croatians, Galicians and Bangladeshis--and this history of accepting foreigners in a place like Astoria is not only beautiful to behold, but it's what keeps us safe and what keeps us free.

Beautiful words, JB, truly. 🖤
All this does is remind me that the world cup is still on. But it'll be over come Sunday I think...I hope...please let it be over.

The first sentence of that was a perfect journalists sentence. I really enjoy Joe Bob's writing style. It's to the point and it's funny and never obvious.
Bringing truth from the mountaintop. God bless ya JB🍻

Every day I’m happy to wake up in a nation of (mostly) immigrants. We’ve got our flaws and problems but we mostly do alright. 🖤
Damn Skippy Joe Bob also those nipples look mighty stiff 😆
Beautifully said.
Very beautiful indeed, whereas it’s the ugliest of us who want to build walls and restrict whose countries of origin can contribute to our national identity. Also, nice firm ‘n perky nubbins on ya JB!
