Now, I’m kinda embarassed about the realisation I made recently… backgrounds are hard, I’ve always struggled with them, until it occurred to me that for some bizarre reason I totally ignore my usual process when I do them, and I have no idea what I’m doing. I ask you… why did I not consider flat and shading in exactly the same way I do characters? Why has it taken me almost two years to realise that is a valid method? Why am I like this?
